I don't seem to have a problem getting people to my site, but they are not converting into sales. Anyone have any suggestions?

The traffic I'm getting is very targetted.

    Thanks in advance

What is the purpose of your site? Do you promote affiliate products or are you selling your own products?

If you are promoting affiliate products, it is not your job to do the selling. I see it way too often... new affiliate marketers try to become copy writers using headlines from a swipe file and snazzy sales text that is supposedly "proven" to get results... that is not the way to earn commission off of affiliate products.

Instead of selling, you should do pre-selling. You dont want to give every single detail of the product. You dont want to give the "Buy Now" command or anything like that. Your job is to just make your visitor desire the product enough to click your affiliate link. Its that simple! Let the company that you are promoting do the selling!

It doesnt matter how much traffic you get (targeted or otherwise) if you go about the process the wrong way. Personally, I hate being sold to and so does everyone else. Instead, I like to desire something with my own free will...

If you can cause your customers to REALLY desire the product you are promoting without hard selling them, I can almost guarantee your commissions will go up .

Now, if you are trying to sell your own product.... that's a completely different story. Maybe the product just sucks- or the competition is doing a better job of branding or building that desire...

It helps to be more personal on your blog with actual experiences that you have had. Don't be afraid to share what you are doing.

I don't post every day to mine, but when I have a chance I like to go in and share a quick 'something' to it...

And also, are the work at home things the only products you are promoting?? There are a TON of other more profitable and way easier, niches out there.

Hi mountainmom5! I think I see what you are saying if you are referring to my men made easy. I did go in and share a story about my personal situation. Is that what you mean.

I am still in my research stage of what to promote. Have a lot of ideas, but can't seem to find the time. I work a dead end job full time and have little time to put into this. I so want to do more. The second link in my signature is something that I signed up for but have had little time to investigate, but I know I got some really great free information out of it that got me up and moving.

    How do I pm you?

I get really confused sometimes on this forum. I don't know who is talking to who. Anyway mountainmom, your advice applied to me as well. And good luck bhurst!

    Hi bhurst,

    I agree with M5 - be personal.

It could be due to any number or combination of issues: usability, appearance, page load speed, aggressive wording, dry information, etc...

Hard to say, but look into each of the aforementioned and consider other possibilities.

    Good luck,

    Hey mountainmom5,

Can you give me some ideas on other things in other niches?

There are a few key points... but without seeing your site it is hard to advise..

    1. Be personal
    2. Don't make it long..
    3. Think what would make you buy... I hate long sales pages and also i hate being sold..
    4. Don't sell things.. give valuable information so the customer wants more....
