Hi all. I'm new to the forum although I've been hanging around and listening in for a while. I've been studying PL for over 2 months now and have a few questions. I like the way ya'll are willing to help others. That's what it's all about.

One day I hope to be in a position to help others also.

I understand the overall concept. I do not understand HTML or the website templates. If I can make a go of things without using these, I would like to.
I actually have been involved with an mlm company for years, but now want to work it via the internet. I already have a site, I just need to start driving traffic to it. I'm only interested in free traffic right now. Have done a blog, pr, classified ad, bookmarked, etc... I get a little traffic to the blog, but now think it all looks kind of elementary. I think I need to do better content.
I would like to use the landing page instead of a blog. It looks more professional.
Is html important for all of this?
I ready to get seriously started on this, but just kind of nervous.

When I "ping" something at pingomatic, I get a page that says "408 Request Time Out". Does this mean my site hasn't pinged?

i Don't know anything about html, but it doesnt stop me building a website. I mean there are pieces of software like dreamweaver where you can design you pages not by coding but as if you were looking at it. ( as if you were designing it in microsoft word) if you get what i mean so coding isnt needed. I use bluevoda which is a free piece of software and it is in connection with a hosting site called vodahost (you pay for this though).Having these two associated with each other makes building a website easier.

As for free traffic, well, i would start by making your signature link clickable. THis makes it easier for people to click on and you are more likelly to get clicks that way. I had a look at you site and i think you will need to create a lot more keyword rich content to try and rank higher in the serch engines.

    Hello simapr,

I was scared stiff of html and all that when I got started online, too. I still get very nervous when I have to step outside of my 'safe zone' of the things that I have learned and try to pick up a new skill.

I looked at your blog. You've made a nice start. I'm just wondering if perhaps blogging is really going to serve your purposes best.

The best way to get the free traffic you are wanting is to, of course, add plenty of content based on keyword research of what people who are interested in anti-aging techniques and skin care are actually typing into the engines.

You build pages using those exact phrases in the appropriate places. This enables the search engines to send those searchers to your site because of the way your content is written.

There is a bit of technique to it, but it doesn't have to be overly difficult. I happened to be fortunate enough to start out early on with SBI as a site building package. They already had a large selection of templates ready to go. They also have a 'block builder' so you don't HAVE to use html - they do the coding for you.

Also, they have all the keyword research and brainstorming tools you need to find exactly what your target audience is looking for. I couldn't have built my sites without this program, I have no doubt.

I've learned a little html along the way that I use to enhance my sites' appearance a bit, but I still use the basic block builder and let SBI deal with the majority of it. My sites get free traffic from the search engines as a result.

If you are doing this as a serious business, I recommend you check it out for yourself and see if it doesn't make more sense to you.

    Blessings,
    Angie

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely be adding content and now know to place more keywords. Hemjoe, I would love to make my link clickable, but have been unable to get it to highlight. Wait, I'm going to try this icon here.

I'm going to post this and see if this works. Thanks [IMG]

Happywife, thanks for the info. I'm not in a position yet to use SBI, but I have looked at it and will probably take a shot at it when I'm able.

I know I need something other than a blog for a sales page. I like the Landing Page Creator, but don't know how to get it out there.

Does a landing page need a host? Or can you just put a link and drive traffic to it? I'm not real clear on the usage of this yet.

    Thanks for everything, folks.

As far as I know, a landing page does need a host. Is it provided with your PL course (I don't know what all is included - PLer can answer that)?

If PL doesn't offer any hosting, you can probably just use a simple one page site from someone like weebly.com or freewebs.com. It is going to have their name in the url, but if it doesn't matter to you, it should work.

Otherwise, you can buy hosting from someone like BlueHost for a monthly fee and then buy a domain name and create a landing page hosted on bluehost. That way you'd have your own domain name for the url.

I've built and hosted all my sites in SBI, so I don't know how difficult or techie it would be to do a simple page elsewhere. It can't be too hard since there are seemingly a "gazillion" mini-sites online. Maybe they have a forum or video tutorial available with the hosting package.

Just don't expect to get search engine traffic with a landing page. You'll have to drive all the traffic to it. You probably know that, but I thought I'd better mention it just in case.

Hopefully, on of the other members will come along and give you a bit better guidance on this one.

    Blessings,
    Angie

like happywife said i think you need hosting as profit lance doesn't supply this, you need to host the landing page with a hosting service. However having just a landing page with little content may make getting natural traffic from the search engines quite hard so you might want to think about this more carefully.

Thanks guys. I think I'll look into the websites that do free hosting. Later, I would like to try SBI. I'll just see what works.[IMG]

I would start out with the websites that do free hosting to get the hang of setting up the site and information but I would eventually use a web hosting service such as recommended in Profit Lance to get your product or service out there. The free hosting almost always has a bunch of ads or has your url with such a crazy long name that it does not carry as much clout. For instance, I could have hosted my site on something that might end up looking like this: http://www.tripod/affiliate/profitlance-reviews.com... but instead if you click the link in my signature, you'll see a site that (put up a couple of days ago) will carry much more clout with the search engines.

Sign up with Google if you haven't already and use their 'page creator' for your landing page. If you have a problem, send me a private email with your cell and a good time to call and I'll walk you through the rest.

    Peace~

How do you sign up with Google? I'm already signed up with Adsense and Adwords. What do I have to do for a landing page? Thanks for the tip!

Very cool! You already have a Google account. Go into your adsense account as you normally would, then click help, then type in page creator. If you have a problem with html code, write me back. Don't forget to set up an invisible stat counter to track your hits. I like s t a t c o u n t e r . c o m for the great dash board they provide.
