We plan to market specialized mortgage origination services that pertain to special niches: renovation loans and energy-efficient loans. Can anyone give us advice about whether we can actually succeed with the SBI model?

I would listen to MountainMom5 on this one.

    I almost joined SBI.
At that time, I had no idea what I wanted to promote, and was told SBI requests a new license for every site.

Being undecided, knowing there would be many trials with niche markets, I joined WA instead.

I have read several SBI e books, and they are excellent.

    The SBI reviews are great!

I must say that everyone so far at least has only good things to say about SBI. We're strongly leaning towards our purchase of SBI. SBI is promoting a summer special;buy one and get the 2nd for $100. Could someone tell us what the benefit of another SBI site would be. In other words, is an SBI site limitied to just one so called niche with 4 or 5 specialties and would another SBI instance directly benefit the 1st? Thx. in advance.

I think the main limitation of SBI is the price, because basically, you are paying $300 for one site and $100 for a second, so you end up paying $400 for two sites and two domains. You can actually get hosting plans elsewhere where you can host unlimited sites for $10 a month.

Having said that, I've only read one bad review about SBI...and I have to say, the person was pretty much a moron. With SBI, you get more than just a website - you get internet marketing training, and if you don't have that, it will be difficult to get any traffic to your sites if you do not know what you are doing.

There are a number of people from this forum who are involved with SBI and are they great people, so if you can afford it, I say go for it.

Yes there is a summer sale going on right now where you get the second for a $100 for the first year.. after the first year is up, then you will pay full price for both sites for the second year...

I almost got two sites when I got my last one but was afraid I couldn't put enough time into building two sites and yes, it works great for targeting two seperate niches.... and I suppose if they were somewhat related you could actually link them together then but I was thinking of doing two entirely different topics...

You would NOT want to try to build an SBI site around two different niches! If you had several pages on hunting and then several pages on losing weight, you would be wasting your money.[IMG]

True but like you said, with SBI you get training, keyword research tools, and what I like best of all, or at least ONE of the things I like best, lol, is how they have the templates set up to where it will tell you if you have the keywords in the right spots , and where you need to put them to please the search engines, plus it will also let you know if you did not set the page up right and tell you what to do to correct it, which is huge when you are just starting out with affiliate marketing....

Okay, I will shut up now.... [IMG]

    Hi Trapper,

SBI is an excellent choice and will increase your chances of success provided you take the time to read their material before you launch your site. It's all step-by-step and "everything" is included.

It's especially helpful to newbies to both online marketing and webmastering.

I'd recommend it as a first choice for a good all in one package. They also have a good forum.

You might talk to either HappyWife or MountainMom about joining.

    Hi Shawn,

As an SBI user, I'm agreeing with everyone else that it's an excellent way to build an online business. It is particularly good at helping you build a 'successful' website rather than just a 'good website.'

As for the benefit of having two - generally that is to target two different niches.

I honestly don't know enough about renovation loans and energy efficient loans to say whether they would qualify as two different niche topics or whether they could be grouped successfully on one site. Since that's your field, you'd be best qualified to determine that after brainstorming the keywords that are in demand in both categories.

If you decided that they would be two separate sites, they are related closely enough to support each other by cross linking.

It isn't necessary to have a second site in order to make the first site a success. You will develop inbound links from plenty of other places that you don't have to create a site just for that purpose. [IMG]

On the other hand, I have more than one SBI site for a couple of reasons.

    1. I like the diversion. As much as I enjoy my niche topics, I need a break from the subjects at times. The variety of niche topics is refreshing to my brain.

    2. I like the ability to diversify my income and create more income over the long haul.

    3. [IMG] I've just learned to really love building sites.

The sale can be used in another manner, too. I have a friend that is interested in purchasing a site during this special. She asked me to find her someone else interested so she could "split" the package with them and they'd each save $100 on the first year.

That's a good way to get started with less of an investment if you know someone else who is interested.

Other people I know have used their second site as a gift to a friend or family member. I wouldn't "waste" it on someone who won't take advantage of it, but it would make an awesome graduation present, retirement gift, or even encouragement gift to someone you know who is recently unemployed.

One thing to note with the 2nd site in the package deal. If you decide to purchase the sale package for 2 sites, you don't have to activate the second site for up to 9 months. That gives you time to lay the groundwork on the first site and really learn the ropes. The clock doesn't start ticking on the second site until you activate it.

    Hope that helps some.

    Blessings,
    Angie

I'm very thankful to all of you for your insights. In addition, I am honestly amazed at the amount and quickness of the responses I got on my first post.

I am understanding now that there are many, many forums out there related to affiliate marketing. If you would please, mention to me a couple that you feel might be more informative than some of the rest.

I am looking forward to the time I can post helpful information back in return.

    Again Thank you all.

    Hi Shawn,

This is one of the best free forums I frequent. I've heard that the warrior forum is pretty good, but I think there is a lot of product promotion if I remember correctly. You just have to wade through that.

The ultimate best forum I've ever been in is the SBI member forums. They are incredible in my opinion. You have to be an SBI owner to post in the main part of the forum, but if you click on the SBI link below and then in the upper image you'll see an image link that says "affiliates."

If you click on that and sign up as an affiliate (that's free) for SBI, you can post in the 5P Affiliate section of the forum and have access to read the entire forum. You'll find a goldmine of information there.

There are a couple of other forums I visit, but they aren't nearly as good as these so not even worth a mention.

Hope that gives you plenty of food for thought. [IMG]

    Hi Shawn,

You might sign up for the free 30 Day Challenge to get an overview and a little hands-on experience with some of the fundamentals of online marketing. Check out our forum thread and folder first:

Niche question about Site Build It

Read from this forum and read from some of the make money online blogs.

If you'd like to purchase an affordable program and get right into reading from a decent beginner's system, consider Honest Riches 3.0 by Holly Mann. I think it's still $37.

You might also look into Wealthy Affiliate.

SBI would be your best choice if you would like a step-by-step system that includes tools, hosting, and a well-rounded online marketing education. It would also get you up and running the quickest as well as being relatively headache-free.

It's good to have a peak at everything first though. It takes a few months of learning regardless of which route you choose. So, learn to enjoy the process more than anything else.

It'll take you a good six months before you have a decent clue.

    Good luck,

    ~Newbie Shield~

    Hi HappyWife,

That's been my experience as well. I don't even visit those forums and haven't for a long time. This is the only online marketing forum I even look at these days. Vishal is the best admin by far.

I have read your posts with interest. I too am an SBI site owner and the key thing about SBI is the way it takes you through the process step by step to ensure that you can build a site that actually builds traffic.

If you don't understand the process by which traffic builds you can have the most beautifully written site but if no one finds it, it is a waste of money.

My site is still relatively young but traffic is building and I am generating leads from it which I presume is the purpose of your site trapper?

Learning to build a website the SBI way is very different to building a website using traditional methods as they take away all the technical issues when you are starting out. It is a big learning curve but you can build a site that generates leads and an income if you get adequate traffic. There are thousands of SBI sites that earn very good incomes.

There is also the most amazing community in the SBI forums where you will get help and support from others going through the process.

If you decide on SBI, you won't go far wrong.... I have just bought my second site to generate leads for my husband's business and I shared the cost with a colleague just starting his second site. Splitting the cost of one of the deals makes it a very reasonable outlay.

    Good Luck!

Golly, I'm a bit humbled by each of your insightful posts, thank you.

We have purchased the "Deal" package. Two SBI sights. I've spent too much wasted time in Frontpage and DreamWeaver and only hope that our SBI sight(s) building process turns out to be less time consuming than coding in those two time takers.

I've decided to read and am reading Perry Marshal's "Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords" first. Should start the SBI process anytime. Probably, no actually, I'm going to start right after this post reading SBI's intro email and start doing whatever steps are outlined in it.

Thx for the forum info in the prior posts and thx for telling me about the SBI members forum. As for our second site, I have not decided yet but have one particular thought for it as well.

Congrats again Shawn! I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the special DEAL. That sale has been extended to July 6 in honor of Independence Day if anyone else decides to take the plunge. [IMG]

SBI will DEFINITELY be easier than learning the coding to design with Dreamweaver or Frontpage. People who are now proficient in that area, may not appreciate how utterly confusing it can be to the rest of us.

About the Perry Marshall Adwords book, I'm sure it's good as I've read some of his stuff, but I would put your SBI process before worrying about Adwords.

The fact is, the monetizing of your site is going to be your last step, and Adwords is particularly tricky to master. Take class 101 before trying to take class 401. [IMG]

Can't wait to see what you come up with.
    Blessings,
    Angie
