Hi I am also out of ideas. I am involved in a new very innovative Health and Wellness MLM. I have a great upline. They have even flown in from out of state to do presentations. My problem is getting people interested enough to show up. I have found, the few people I have spoken with, don't fully understand the product because it is cutting edge technology. So I am not sure how to reach out to a more target audience. I have pretty much exausted my warm list.

    Hi Marisa,

I'm only new to MLM so I don't have a lot of experience in that area. I do know this. I do not want to feel the pressure to hound people who are not interested in something to try to make some sales and get sign-ups. That can only be depressing and ruin relationships in my opinion.

I decided to take a different approach. I am building a website based on a niche topic that deals with the problems people face that our particular products address. That way, I am going to be dealing with people who are already looking for what I am offering even though they don't know what it is yet.

I believe it will be a lot easier to 'sell' products to those people as they are already a warm market. I don't feel the pressure of convincing my family and friends. I'd rather have people coming to me, rather than me trying to find them. Does that make sense?

I'm still in the early stages of building my site (the parasite one), but I think it is going to be the best thing for me in the long run. Besides that, I am not limited to only making money from my MLM but there are other ways I can monetize through my site. Should anything ever happen with my MLM company, I still have my business in tact. I can simply find another quality product that meets the same needs and swap it out.

I hope that gives you some food for thought.
    Blessings,
    Angie

    Hi Marisa,

I would suggest starting to write some articles in your niche and about your company to submit to ezines. You will have a resource box for these articles that will include your website.

You cannot usually use an affiliate ID but you can start a blog for free and you can point to that. Starting a blog is a great thing to do because you can also use articles from other sources for content.

Blogger.com and wordpress.com are good blogs and fairly easy to work with.

    Best of luck to you,

    Laura

You have an excellent idea here. I've been talking to someone who wants to take this approach in a health related business as well. But no matter what the business, the method you are utilizing should work well for you.

I totally agree in not wanting to discuss the business you are in with someone unless they have first expresssed an interest in it, or in something closely related to it.

    Angie,

That's a very effective strategy. By highlighting, discussing and sharing information on the particular problems people in that niche are facing, and then introducing your product as a solution to those problems, you practically ensure an above average conversion rate, and lay the foundation for a loyal customer base.

You can also offer complimentary products that address other aspects of the same basic need.

I'd say that's a smart plan, and I wish you all the best! [IMG]

    Marisa,

Danijohnson.com has some excellent recordings that address the
issue you are talking about. She has some awesome recordings. That is where I would start.

You have gotten some excellent tips Marisa - I know what you are talking about. After trying several different things and not being very successful at it, I didn't tell very many people when I got back into it what I was doing. There are many of my close friends that have no idea what I do from home.[IMG]

I would much rather target an eager attentive audience on the internet than watch for anyone that is 'within 3 feet and breathes' and all that garbage - uhuh - Not for me!

Angie has some awesome ideas there with SBI and you can also play around with some free places like squidoo.com to do the same thing, like write articles on things like, chronic fatigue, or losing belly fat and then have links back to your site.

Or target the 'work at home' people - there are millions of them out there! And do a lens on that - they are fairly easy to do and I'd give you a link here to one of mine but I think it might get deleted so send me a pm if you want it and you can check it out.

    Good luck!

Isn''t it crazy that the folks we would like to be most supportive are the ones that are the most difficult to discuss our businesses with? Crazy! And I'm not sure if it all comes from their desire not to see us get hurt. It may be a bit of jealousy that we are trying to live our dreams!

I told my mom and kids, and I'm so excited about it that they got over their initial "what are you thinking!" attitude and now are supportive. As for friends and neighbors, every time one asks me how I can afford to take ANOTHER vacation?? I have the opportunity to tell them about my venture, if they want to hear it.

And my favorite quote is one I heard from Ellie Drake. She said "If your dream is big enough, the facts don't matter." Can I get an "amen" on that one? So keep at it. Keep trying different ideas. You'll find what works for you.

    Very best, Darlene

I wasn't (and I don't think Viola was) really referring to our friends and family being supportive. Mine is completely supportive and not jealous that I can tell.

I was more referring to us trying to 'sell' the business and the products to them. That's what tends to leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth more often than not.

    Hi Happywife,

Cool that they are supportive! I sure agree that trying to sell to family doesn't generally work out well. Thanks for clarification and have a great night.

    Blessings, Darlene
