Retailing Coastal Packages

Most of the marketing I have been exposed to and it seems to be the main push is recruiting people into making money by recruiting others to do the same - building "teams" in one way or another.

It must work - However, is anyone simply retailing the packages on their own merit? I have listened to the Coastal Site etc. But I am trying to find out in real time if people simply sell the packages to other people - not so much to business for promotion deals - but just to other people. It would appear at first blush that all your Christmas shopping could be done - especially for those hard to buy for - by gifting vacation packages?

It appears to me that with just one condo stay, you pretty much pay for your package with the savings as well?

    Thanks

    Bob

PS being a baby boomer - my generation is getting into the travel mode with kids gone and some people retiring and cutting back hours etc. So I may have a different perspective than a 25 year old.

    HI Bob,

Yes, many buy the Coastal Vacations Membership just for the travel benefits. You can do home parties, trade shows and seminars to sell the membership.

Yes, you can quickly save back your investment with just one or two vacations.

Last September I met a couple who are retired and own a farm. They travel 30 weeks a year. Baby boomers are great prospects for our membership as they can do long term and short term vacations. One option is to use the Burn Weeks to go somewhere each week. (Burn weeks is a term used to describe last minute, exceptional values in travel).

Our plans are to sell this house - it is on the market - buy a motor home and hit the road - staying at the myriad of campsites around the country.

My bride wondered if those other road warriors we will be rubbing shoulders (all most literally [IMG] ) with would be a natural market? They are the ultimate travelers. Her parents did the motor home thing for 10 years - but they also kept a real house to "stretch the legs" for a few months.

I was thinking that many of these travelers could stretch their legs at Coastal Condos for 1-2-3 months per year @ 1100-1500 per month - it would sure be cheaper than keeping a real home for this purpose eh?

Bob, that's a great idea. I've often thought about traveling for 52 weeks...BUT I've got a 9 year old, so I'll have to put those plans on the back burner.

    Jay,

Never thought I'd ever be happy having no kids in the house - and I do miss them - but on the other hand - the freedom is quite nice. It was wonderful being dad, coach, mentor - but it is also nice now to watch them make their own way. They are making a nice mark for themselves in this life so far.

My father in law - and his buddies/cronies were talking last weekend about the concept of doing cruise living. I.e. living on a cruise ship pretty much all year - finding deals and just going from one to the other. They even had the health thing factored in as ships have doctors aboard that fix what is broken - and that service in included in the pricing.

These are not super weatlty people - certainly not broke - but high middle income retired folks. I can see marketing to my 50-60's age group and to his generation as well.

Could be just a word of mouth / referral deal - and most them have the time to become directors themselves and make some bucks - hell most are retired business people who might enjoy the chase again.

Do you think that if I started a direct belly button to belly button marketing deal - to these groups - that this marketing plan could be valid? As well as those vagabonds living in motor homes around the country - which we will be sharing campfires with?

Awesome way to make an extra income they would be their own rolling testimonial, bound to get alot of business that way....people will see them living the lifestyle and getting paid doing it. [IMG]

Absolutely....what you may want to do is keep some trips(vouchers) on hand to give to them belly to belly to "try" it out.

Don't forget to mention this card:

    Adventure Camping Network Card

Get inspired by Nature for as little as $6.00 per night!

Choose from over 500 campgrounds in the United States and Canada. As a special bonus, you'll save up to 30% off at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.
They also offer RV Hookups and reservations up to 90 days in advance or as little as 7 days in advance.

Now you and your family and friends can enjoy the great outdoors trouble-free, at a price you'll appreciate!

Some campgrounds have additional charges for cable, phone, and sewer hookup. All Adventure Campground Network locations have dedicated campsite inventory. You also may utilize ACN's free trip routing service, where ACN will mail you a computer printout showing total mileage of your trip and approximate driving time, plus it details every turn, every road and highway, and the distance between all junctions and towns on the route.

    (Directory Included)

There are other cards that would be of interest to the crowd you will be approaching. have a lot of Flyers, brochures, business cards.

Sounds like a fun way to do business.

Yes, the great thing about Coastal is that we work with over 60 companies so we have so many options. I can never see myself fully retiring as I get bored and I know alot of retired folks do look for something stumulating that will allow them to "work" on a project that does produce extra income. When you consider that the income can go into travel...it's a win win.

Terri - thanks - I'll have father - in law research the camping deal - as he as all kinds of discount cards now for campsites.

Rhonda - thanks again - re: IM

Jay - What if some of these folks do not want to go full fwd after buying? What is the typical "kickback" or referral amount for people simply referring new people etc.?

    Bob,
Coastal doesn't offer a referral amount or a kickback if they dont buy, some other businesses have what they refer to as a affiliate program BUT you can always offer them a free vacation which may in turn convince them to buy.

As a travel agent I offer my clients several options in packages. If one size dont fit.....

One will fit their needs, there are pkgs for baby boomers, or seniors
or young families who want to travel to disneyworld, or sophisticated young executives who want the best money will buy, but each program we offer may be different, several of us in this forum offer more than one travel product.

As someone mentioned that Coastal is the Walmart or Sams club in the travel package family.

    Hi Bob,

It's really upto the person how many hours a month they want to work. There are no schedules or quotas. I have people on my team who are missionaires and work only 6 months a year. So, it's really upto thme.

To become a director it takes a total of 3 sales. You purchase your membership and have two training sales that your director will assist you in getting. Coastal is a lifetime membership, so when you have your directors release you'll be able to work whatever schedule you choose and keep the profit from those sales.

Question for you all if I was your friend and didnt want to do Coastal as a business and I referred someone to you that bought a Level III package would you compensate me in any way for the $9705 I just made you?

Love to hear what others in the forum do in cases like this.

Adam - that was kinda my question I guess - You just made it more clear.

Assume you retail a package on it's own merit. And you ask that person for referrals. What do you offer your new client for referrals that buy?

    Bob ,

I forgot to mention im a mind reader lol. No actually I understood your question and saw it as an opportunity to learn a bit myself. I think offering referral fees is a great idea. I used to use that in all of the sales jobs I had before. Even when I was a cop the detectives used it with CI'S (confidential informants to you civilians). Money is a great motivator and I look at it this way if someone made me $9705 I should reward them. First its free money to me as I wouldnt have made it on my own and secondly it motivates the person to do it again thus making me more money.

Just my thoughts but ive been known to be wrong ( esp alot in this forum it seems) lol. I hope this gets people sharing some of their tips and we all can learn from each other.

It's really upto each director to decide how they do this.

I'd give them something I felt comfortable giving them for the referral...it would depend on alot of things I guess but yes I would give them something other than a Thank You.

Okay lets ask this another way.

    Jay what would you give?
    Rhonda what would you give?

    In terms of dollar amounts.

Perhaps I would set a flat rate of a 10% referral fee.

If they got more involved in the process and did more than just pass me a name then perhaps something more, KWIM?

Hi everyone as most of you know i am one of coastals biggest vendors and i thought that i could shed some light on weather just regular folks not wanting to start a business purchase a COASTAL vacation package ,and weather buisnesses purchase them to do promotions. we recieve approximately 100 or more calls a day on our coastal travel reservation lines and it increases every month . our agents talk to dozens of people daily who are not in the coastal business that are thrilled to be part of such a great vacation program . they are amazed at the quality of the package and the savings that they recieve. as jay said those who use there package see how quickly they recoupe there investment and still have a lifetime to us it . we also answer questions from business owners all the time that call us to learn how best to use there coastal package to promote there business.
over all the calls that we recieve are from seasoned travelers who cant believe that they can save so much money and travel for pennies on the dollar. we have refered lots of people who call us to coastal directors who then help them get started in the business and it feels good to be part of such a special organization
