    Hi,
I am writing articles that are search engine optimised with my keyword. I distribute the keyword around once every 100 words, and include it in the title, but my articles never appear in the search engines, even with me posting to squidoo and ezine. Any idea why I'm having trouble?

    Thanks,
    srama3

Just adding keywords will not do. Ranking depends on competitiveness of keywords you are using. That being said, it is relatively easier to get top ranking for long tail keywords.

And don't forget about backlinks from high PR sites.

Hi, what you have did is on page optimization. Here you will optimize for the keyword in title, and content. Now you have to do off page optimization.

Do one thing. Just leave your keyword, url and other related stuff and I shall provide you personalized support.

If you feel it is so private PM.

Lets experiment and try out. I hope it will work for you.

    Hi samuealdarwin,
    my url is

    http://ezinearticles.com/?Legitimate-Surveys-For-Money---4-Crucial-Steps-to-Take-in-O rder-to-Succeed&id=1981803

They keywords is legitimate surveys for money. Actually, when I found those keywords in the google keywords tool, it seemed an alright keyword to optimise with, but I have just checked again and it seems to have disappeared. Any ideas?

    Hey srama,

    Here is what I understood.

    Url - Ezine articles
Keyword to optimize - legitimate surveys for money

You are already in #5. Thats a good position. Seeo for yourself.

    Hi samueldarwin,
I have one more question. When I went to google and typed in my keyword in with the main words in capitals

    i.e. Legitimate Surveys for Money

    my article came up[IMG].

However, when I typed it in with no capitals it didn't come up.

    Any idea why?

    Thanks,
    srama3

As others have observed, there is more to writing articles then just picking a keyword, optimising for that keyword and submitting it to hundreds of directories. This approach is fine if you want backlinks only, but if you actually want your article to appear in the search engines, you will need to do a lot more research, on competition for one.

You should also focus your article on one directory only, and get some links to your profile. That should get you moving in the right direction.

Hey Srama3, this will not happen. As you see in the example above I have typed the keyword in small fond and the site is in #4. For the first letter capital it is #4

Google has no discrimination between caps and small letters. Both will yield the same results. If you see some difference you might be using country specific domains for different searches. For eg: google.com in one and google.co.in in another.

I hope I have cleared your doubts. Any more help, please feel free to ask me.

The SEO experts like Brad Callen and Ross Goldberg agree that offsite work is much more powerful than onsite SEO.

The key to onsite SEO is to use long tail keywords (3 words) and discovering them through Google's service, or the Rolls Royce of keyword analysis and empowerment: SEO Elite by Brad Callen (no affiliation, just the best there is). All the pros use it.

For offsite work, Google likes links pointing AT your site from as many sources as possible. And the higher that referring page's page rank, the more Google likes it. Blogging (Wordpress and Blogger.com) works, Ezine articles and Squidoo all add up.

I agree with you. Offpage optimization is the key to success. I have seen many pages with no keyword optimization but with good rankings. All because of off page works.

I will put it as Onpage - 30% and offpage - 70 %. Do the onpage first (Don't over do it). Then push to high rankings by offpage.

Thanks Gridellas. One more suggestion to srama3 - If you could edit the 'click here' link in the resource box of your ezinearticle into your anchor text, you would get a good back link. And this would pass a good link juice to your site.

    Cheers !

    That's fine Sam.

You should let others know that valuable content is what matters most. The mechanical stuff is way overrated and is very much secondary to success.

Both types of SEO matter but they are barely the beginning.

Always create newsworthy content above all else.
