Has anyone heard of a social network that is also an mlm? I am interested in this b/c I think I came across one that is going to be huge and wanted to know if there were other such sites/business opportunities out there. Can anyone answer that for me?

Several paid social network opportunities have come with a lot of fan fare, and gone with the wind.

It may sound like a good idea but I think the several failures say that this may not be a viable business model for establishing network marketing residual income.

The fact that other more powerful social networks remain free puts the ideal up against a wall for success.

Thanks for the response. I agree about the fact that there are other social networks that are free. However, I think this can be said about anything. I can get Noni juice for cheaper at a grocery store, or energy drinks, or whatever the product may be. I understand that issue though with anything.

Do you have any specific examples? I have heard of some wowzaa thing. Are there any that are currently operating? I am a member of a social network (mlmsocial.com) that is a social network for network marketers, but is not a mlm itself (but it will be soon from what I hear).

The reason I got introduced to this idea is b/c I have a friend who has created a site. It is up and available to look at, but not up and running for the mlm purpose. I have had a chance to look at it and it looks pretty dang good. I would almost pay the $5 monthly subscription just b/c it is so nice looking. What price do you think people would pay for the opportunity to make a few bucks off of it?

Anyway if there are some specific site you could refer me to that is currenlty up and running I would love that.

    Thanks.

I don't have a specific site. I have many opportunities that show up in my email. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of one that a few months back just shut down after many people were all excited about it and paid money. I believe they had a forced matrix model. Owners ran with the money after 6 months or less.

True such a business can work, and other free social networks wouldn't necessary keep a paid one from being successful overall. I just meant that I'm not sure that the business model of a paid social network will pan out overtime for one looking to establish a powerful mlm residual income.

The one that I mentioned above got people excited because of the force matrix comp plan, but force matrices are only good if you have everyone doing their part, and most do not, at least at the same rate, and many hope to get a free ride which becomes more and more improbable as the base widens in ones particular matrix. A company forced matrix can be even worst.

So $5 a month or $50 a month can work. I think that to sustain it one needs a viable compensation plan and that is where things tend to fall apart. Many mlm's have compensation plans that take thousands of members to create just a good $1000 in monthly residual income (not bonuses).

http://www.mynetworkingpro.com formally direct matches has a paid model. They started free as I recall but then went to a paid service for those wanting more benefits. It may work for you.

I think swom falls into that category. You get paid for members who upgrade to the paid membership. I'm not sureif I can post links here so check it out on swom dot com.

I checked out swom. It is similar, but it doesn't have multiple levels. You just get paid for people you invite and join as a paid member. Thanks for the info.

I don't think that a social network marketing site will do well.

The powerful stuff about all the social network sites out there is that they are free to use.

If people would have to join and pay for it, many people will not use it.

I think b/c people use social networks that is why it would work. Yes, they are free, but there are many mlm's out there that most people won't justify b/c it is a worthless product. Now lets say you throw in some more aspects into it. Combine multiple things into one site. What if you could sell, like on ebay (which charges fees to sell) and it was included in the monthly fee? I sell on ebay a few times a year and it may not be worth it to me there, but for someone who sells a lot of stuff on ebay a fee of say $5 a month might be worth it for unlimited listings. Plus it has the features of a social network.

  10. Good question,

I have seen it all, and most social pay to join deals are not going to bring much attention in the face of the monster deals like Facebook and Myspace, never mind Twitter which are versions of social media sites most have heard of.

With the success of Groupon and Living Social, no doubt, word of mouth works in a social society like we are in, but with most, there is not going to be much money to make in my opinion. Viral growth is the key, and an incentive of an income over time will work, but only if their is true value and money saving concept behind social networking.

In this economy, everyone is looking for value, saving money, and earning an extra income, so combining these features is the answer when it comes to social media income opportunities. Social aspect alone is not going to cut it with the giants also looking to monetize their base, so it all comes down to value, always does in the end.

I am researching new launch which is similar to Groupon and Living Social which offer special discounts in major cities, but have yet to hit local mediums like Local-Groupon-Coupons.com is achieving with MobileCellCash.com media texting marketing, this looks interesting and worth checking out since it is join free program, nothing to lose.

    Success to all,
