I've started several blogs on Hubpages, but then I've learned about Squidoo from some of the posts on this forum. I don't have time to set up blogs on two sites, so which would site would give me more exposure?

Squidoo is not a blog site. I use Squidoo, and I get marginal traffic from there. I'm not familiar with how hubpages would compare, but I've been wanting to expand into that area just to see.

From all the feedback I have heard, though, people seem to get more traffic from Squidoo. I wouldn't count out hubpages though. The best scenario I think would be to do both.

Your Squidoo pages don't necessarily require lots of upkeep. Just make a decent lens to begin with and make it "fresh" by adding some RSS links. Even better if the RSS links are from your own blog somewhere else.

I used Squidoo as a landing page for my articles. I love Squidoo.

Billy, how successful have you been using Squidoo lenses as landing pages? I'd love to hear of your experience.

  5. I use them both. Not as landing pages, but more as back-links to my main sites.

The two are quite similar. Eventually, you'll want to use both Squidoo and HubPages. I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better than the other.

Just for your information, HubPages and Squidoo aren't actually blogs per se. They don't archive articles and going beyond a certain size usually works against you.

Get into all of the web 2.0 sites that you can. Master them one by one. Once you feel experienced, consider hosting your own site. Then you can point back and forth between your collection of sites.

    Good luck,

I personally prefer Squidoo. It's easy to get it indexed in the search engines and I like the appearance.

If I had to choose one, I'd pick Squidoo. Still, both are quite valuable.

    Here's the down and dirty:

    Squidoo is older.

Squidoo gets about twice the number of page views and traffic.

You'll make more money on Squidoo.

Even so, Hub Pages is a lot like Squidoo and it is quite valuable.

Bottom line = both are similar in many ways and everyone should use both of them.

I didn't want to put it that way because Hub Pages shouldn't be overlooked. Do both...that's all I can say.

I use both, and have checked this out and agree Squidoo is the better of the two.
I like the look of Hub Pages, however
Squidoo is more friendly, and popular.

I recently got all my Hubs suspended. Too spammy. I fixed most of the Hubs, (the re-approval process was quick at least), and moved some to Squidoo. Never got a complaint about a spammy lens from Squidoo.

Not sure if you have heard that last year or so, big G (guuugle) slapped Squidoo due to some spammy activities by its members. Thus I have taken a break and concentrated on Hubpages and article submisson Diggdotcom

    I would say Squidoo.
Hug pages have a nice, clean look.
However, you have more breathing room with Squidoo, and they are more friendly.

I work at HubPages and would like to clear up some misconceptions about our service vis a vis Squidoo.

In total, we have almost the same level of traffic (visitors and pageviews) as Squidoo. Although they are older, we have almost completely closed the gap with them.

Because we enforce higher standards (no spam, no porn, no Hubs promoting illegal activity, etc) we get more than four times the traffic per Hub than per Squidoo lens. The average Hub gets 67 pageviews per month, the average lens only 15.

It's true that Hubs can be unpublished if they do not follow our guidelines and are deemed overly promotional. However, all the user has to do is make the necessary changes, and the Hubs are republished.

Enforcing high quality means you reap an enormous traffic benefit

Hubs are indexed within hours, if not minutes, by Google (Yahoo, as usual, is quite a bit slower). We have many users earning hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars per month on what they've published.

Many members who use both services say that we have a more friendly community. Our forums are supportive and welcoming to new users who are genuinely looking to contribute. But yes, people who come to spam the forums are typically "burned" pretty quickly. [IMG]

We don't encourage using HubPages to create backlinks to your site - if the Hub is just a teaser for main content elsewhere, it will get unpublished. However, serious writers have created high-quality, unique Hubs and been able to drive traffic and link authority to their sites by following our rules.

Again, we have strict (but not hard to follow) rules. That's the reason we enjoy a huge traffic premium per Hub.

So even if it takes you 4 times as much time to make a Hub than it does to make a lens, it will be worth your time, because the traffic is more than 4 times that of a lens.

The main difference that I have noticed is that the SE love Squidoo. Ever time I make a new lens it gets ranked on the first couple of pages of Google. So every time I want to start a new product, I start a new lens. It works great as a back link to other pages such as my blog.

Squidoo is GREAT as a landing page. Seth made the Squid FOR internet marketers. It has great tracking features and I even make adsense money there.

Can someone help me out, please. I am new to all this stuff.
what is squidoo and what is a lens, and how do you use this to get back links. I'm very confused, here.
