Using only articles to build backlinks, what is your view?

    Hi all

I understand that there are many ways of building back links so that our website can rank well in the search engine.

I am thinking whether it would be wise of using only one method, i.e. submitting articles to Ezinearticles because this is the proven method of building links and getting direct traffic. My intention of doing so is not to distract myself from doing the effective things.

    My other question is:

If I were to post say 100 articles to Ezinearticles and then point back to my website, how many back links would be counted by search engine? 100? Or lesser?

    Thank you for your advice.

Yes. You can focus on one method to get your backlinks.

I think it should be 100 backlinks back to your websites.

I wasn't very sure about this.

Backlinks are links that are in other places (i.e. articles, blog posts, forum posts, etc.) that point to your website or blog.

For example, if you had a website that you wanted to point traffic to, say, toys dot com, you would write articles, make forum posts, and other posts using the toys dot com link and it would take them to your original web site or blog. Does that make sense?

I have a little over a hundred articles at ezinearticles, there are over 100,000 views and some over 1200 link clicks... meaning folks clicked on the links to get to my sites...

So yes, it is like a hundred little workmen running around the internet - lol

I personally don't think those numbers are that great as there should be a higher ratio of url clicks to views, in my opinion. [IMG]

Some of the first articles I wrote had a lot of views but not many clicked on the link so I had to learn how to write in such a way as to please ezinearticles and still get the click.[IMG]

Submitting articles to Ezine Articles and other article distribution sites is an effective way to build backlinks or inbound links to your website or blog.

It's not a bad idea to get the hang of one thing first and then move on to the next. However, depending on where you are along the IM curve, you'll soon realize that you do possess the capacity to do several things effectively, practically at the same time.

Consider a juggler. She may start out by learning to juggle a single ball, before moving on to 2 balls, then 3, 4 or 5 balls. Each additional ball requires her to learn and perfect a slightly different coordinated hand/eye sequence. When she's at the 3-ball stage, she might think it's impossible for her to ever juggle 5 balls. And then when she learns to master juggling 5 balls, it's as effortless as breathing.

Similarly, with the right planning and discipline you can devise a marketing system that allows you to implement several productive strategies at once without distracting yourself. There are all kinds of automated tools to help you simplify such a process.

You would have 100 or more links pointing back to your site. The additional links will come from those sites, blogs and ezines that republished the original articles you submitted to EA.

100,000 views? That's fantastic, at least to me.

Hermas, thanks for your straight to point explanation. And I appreciate others' help as well.

Hermas had a great point. Master one way and continue adding the new ways to your daily schedule. This will help add more back links for you, gain more exposure and add a variety for you so you don't get tired of doing on thing day in and day out. [IMG]

    Hi Gary,

I would take advantage of more than just article directories for backlinks.

You might also create one or more lenses on Squidoo, submit a press release, comment on both blogs and forums, create a free blog, and whatever else you can think of.

Once you have a good deal of content on your site, you might reach out for a little JV action.

    Why would you limit yourself?

Thanks for your advice. I will definitely consider these options in the near future.

I am aware that backlinking is very important, however, I do not know what I have to embed in URL when I want to backlink to an ezine article. Is it the url that I see when I view my article? Roseanne

First, you should not rely only on article backlinks. Your link building campaigns should be having a mixed flavor. For eg, it must be from:

    1) Articles
    2) Forum
    3) Other niche websites
    4) Blogs
    5) Directories
    6) Press release

And many others. So this would look like as if it is natural to Search engine.

Second, getting 100 links from article website like ezine is very difficult unless you are a very good writer.
Even if you do so, it will not be counted as 100 bls, very less than that. I would prefer getting 100 backlinks from different article websites rather 100 links from one article website....

Hope this clears you... If you need personalized help you may PM me...

    Hi Roseanne,

Yes you are correct! If you want to backlink to one of your articles, no matter where it is, you will click on view your articles and copy the url in the top of that page and that will be the url to your article.
Make sure you check all your url's, that they go to the right place and are working. [IMG]

    Hi Roseanne,

You might like to remove the bold and underline tags from your signature links since that type of formatting gets discarded (aside from the tags appearing in plain text, which is something you probably don't intend).

Just thought you might like a heads up :)

I have to agree with samueldarwin.

It would be better to have a mixture of backlinks
rather than all coming from articles only.

Some SEO experts have even recommended getting some links
from sites that are not of your niche.More natural, they say.

Hi, I agree with the above posts. Don't always put all your eggs in one basket. Mix it up a bit. Submitting a lot of ezinearticles is good, but make sure to also use popular article directories such as buzzle, goarticles, articlebase, streetdirectory, isnare, ideamarketers etc.
Also, you should do some social bookmarking such as folkd, digg, clipmarks, as well as yahoo answers and forum backlinks :p Variety is the spice of life!

Ezinearticles is a great place to start off getting backlinks. Although there are a few other good places just to write articles. Goarticles.com is another good place to write.

Forums, Blogs, and such can also prove to be great ways to get backlinks. Just keep writing and stay organized

Because internet marketing relies on building a huge network of links to be succesful, relying on articles alone may be a timid approach. Exploring other avenues would do no harm. Apart from the forums and blogs, places like Squidoo and Flickr can generate traffic. The benchmark is to offer value in the content you generate.

I use different methods to get backlinks. However, when it comes to article marketing I prefer to stick with Ezine. I have written quite a few articles for GoArticles, but I do not feel that I get good results from that site. I am not saying it is bad. I just don't feel I get results that are worth my time
