What about Mail Compiling?

Has anyone ever heard of mail compiling? Basically what I read about mail compiling was that companies will give you a list of their customer email addresses to contact them (for whatever reason). I decided to look again today and found out, from a few different sources, that I would have to compile a list of email addresses to give to the company (refering potential customers) to make an income. I'm NOT interested in that sort of work where i'm the one who has to collect email addresses. Is there a place out there who will pay for employees to email their customers? Am I looking in the wrong places? What position would this be classified as? Advice would be great.

The closest thing I've seen is doing support and/or customer service via email for existing customers, users of the product, etc. But these types of positions are tough to come by.
