Where does motivation come from?

For me, motivation comes from helping others. It may be on a personal level or business level, but when I do that, I feel like doing more. It doesn't matter what that "more" is, but that "more" pushes me further & further. I'm going to tell you a story. Last night, my son was out with friends. He called me on the phone and asked me if one of his friends could come by the house to talk to me. His friend was very upset because her mother almost died right infront of her. She didn't know how to cope with it. I put my arms around her and let her talk. We talked about everything that she felt was negitive and turned it into a positive. He mother didn't die. Her mother is still here for her. What happened to her mom was scary, but the outcome is great. She was scared of all the feelings she had. I told her my fears. I almost lost my husband to a heart attack. I held her when she cried. By the time she left, I had her laughing. The thick layer of fear was gone and she had a warm smile on her face. Helping her really mativates me. Our lives are filled with uncertainties. If we sit too long and think about them, we get consumed. With that consumption comes fear, dread and loneliness. If you have that, you have no motivation. When life hands you lemons, sometimes you need to make lemonaid. Stay positive, stay motivated. If you can't, I'm here to listen and help. There is always someone who will listen. We all have days that are not going so well. It's how you view it and challenge it that propells you forward to create a better future.

    To your massive success,
    Michelle

I definately agree that helping others can be very rewarding, especially when its a "win win" situation, but I think we also need to help people even when there is not anything in it for us...

    Getagrip,

You're right. Many times, the only thing that I get out of it is satisfaction. Satisfaction, of knowing that I helped that person.

    Thanks for the reply,

    To your massive success,
    Michelle

    Thanks for sharing.

Like the experts always say, helping people to achieve what they want, in return, you will achieve what you want as well.

Helping people to save time and money will allow you to earn some of the money and time you've helped them save.

That makes more sense to me. (no pun intended)

My motivation comes from my "why". This "why" is the main reason why I have chosen to do the work that I am doing. I keep this "why" consistently in mind and focus on the tasks that I need to do to achieve this "why". That's how I get my motivation.

    Where does motivation come from?

It comes from different places for different people.

    Examples:

    - A desire to reach personal goals
    - A desire to help others
    - A yearning for self-improvement
    - Following your dreams
    - Wanting to become the best
    - The need for recognition
    - The need to win
    - The need to please someone else
    - The promise of a reward
    - The challenge
    - Fear of failure
    - The enjoyment from doing the task
    - A need to avoid punishment
    - The opportunity to learn something new

What kind of advice are you looking for? Everyone generally gets frustrated when they first start out because they are learning something new. It can be a bit overwhelming.

If you just take things one step at a time and don't expect huge results quickly it will be easier to tolerate the frustration. [IMG] It usually takes a while to learn the ropes, get your business established and gradually work up to a steady growing income.

Be patient and persistent. If you have questions, ask them as specifically as you can so that those who know the answers can give their input.

    Blessings,
    Angie
