Hello rgov, I just wanted to let you know that you can research keywords for free using Google Analytics. Your want the Global number of clicks to be greater than 2000 and 60,000 to 70,000.
In other words you want key words with a high number of searches
with low competition.

I agree with ShielaOcean, having a .blogspot on your domain means that Blogger could take control of your blog. They can shut your blog down and all your hard work gone. Yeah having a free domain is good, but paying for your domain and controlling it to whatever you want your blog to be is better.
Freedom has a price, you can't expect FREE to be really free of everything.
