I've been looking for a reasonably priced host that allows you to buy month by month. I'm not really interested in paying for a couple months to get "the best price" or a money back guarantee, I just want to be able to pay for a month, see how it goes and move on if need-be...

I have heard good things about HostGator. I think one of my friends here on the forum uses that and wanted to check it out for the same reason. She wanted to pay for the first month to see if everything worked out ok before paying for full time hosting. Hopefully she or other people will chime in with better advice on it. I actually use the free hosting at a site I'm a member of, but if I ever decided to try another service too, I'd give HostGator a shot. Good luck!

Hostgator goes by the month. I use them and so far they have been good. It's about $10 a month.

I think Hostgator is a great company. I use them for my websites, and they allow you to host unlimited domains and give you 600GB of bandwidth for less than $10 per month! That is really hard to beat!

HostGator is one of the best choices. It's month to month - no contracts. It's $5/mo with one domain, 350gb disk space, and 3,000gb bandwidth. If you want multiple domains: $8/mo, 600gb disk space, and 6,000gb bandwidth. They also have a more expensive plan for more space and unlimited bandwidth.
BlueHost is another one but you have to sign up for at least three months (that one requires a $30 setup fee at the moment). They also have 6, 9, 12, and 24 month contracts.
HostMonster and BlueHost are owned by the same company. HostMonster has pretty much the same deal as BlueHost. They even have the same employees :)
It's been my experience that both HostGator and BlueHost are fairly equal. There are some minor differences but they balance out. You can't go wrong with either one considering the low cost and generous number of frills.
Has anyone had trouble with any of these companies or do you have a preference for any of them? Good or bad luck with tech support?

Yes i agree with newbie that hostgator is best. You may also try yahoo hosting and networksolutions. They also have a good price for monthly offers.
