Hey all,
Question for you. Over time my site is shifting in terms of where I see my visits coming from, according to Google Analytics. I am increasingly seeing up to 35% of my traffic coming "direct." However, according to analytics, up to 75% of those are new visitors. Can anyone better explain to me what that really is saying? How are people coming direct to the site if they have never been there before. I have a feeling I am just missing a simple explanation (but maybe not ) Any input?

Hi HappyGal,
Since you say these are first time visitors, they probably got the site addy via email from a friend and typed or copy/pasted the addy in a browser.
Make sense?

It could also be that your website link might have been published on some high traffic site but not been made clickable. So readers will have to copy paste the link on to their browser and that will appear as direct traffic. Just a guess.
