I am currently trying a program from www.InstanBuzz.com to advertise for my site. I have to install a bar that shows ads, but it is at the top of my screen and is out of the way. It is free to use and advertise, but you can upgrade to different plans. You earn credits just for surfing the internet like you usually do. People aren't clicking on your ad to earn credits, but because they are interested in it. I have just started using it so I'm not sure how successful it will be yet.

I think what you can immediately see from iceman's post is that hard work and perseverance pay off! (And that he's a good marketer)
Create a routine of marketing and promoting; it's not something you can do just once and foget.

Just curious, do you post the same articles to all the ezines. Would that get your website banned from Google since I heard that Google ban websites with duplicate content?

Greetings Everyone,
I have been working from home off and on since 2003, I have learned and seen alot, and shelled out enough money for a two year collage course.
"Any successful marketer on the internet will tell you the gold is in your list!" If you want your business to prosper build a list - if you want your business to fail don't build a list!
The most important aspect in getting web traffic to your site, is that you learn to write attention grabbing headline and content for your ads. And track your ad campains to see what ads pull, before investing your hard earned money!
Give away free products when ever possible, to build a relationship with new potential customers. And harvest email address through a guest book so that you can contact them over and over again.
Next will be to find a system, and put it into place for submitting your ads. As well as giving yourself a pre set budget to work with for advertising and marketing.
Best regards, Pit2palace

My two cents... I have been in the game for only a year but have found PPC to be the only "sure-fire" approach. I tried the [i]drive as much traffic as possible to your site for as little as possible approach[i] and that succeeded at creating a lot of hits and was cheap....but that's all it did..no quality traffic that ended up in sales. The key to successful ppc is keywords and "keyword Intense ads" and reasonable bidding. You don't have to be the highest bidder to get a decent share of clicks and I have found that the serious "shoppers" will look through several sites before making a purchase so getting listed in the first 10 will still be successful. Remember Ad quality is key to get the click over the next guys/gals website. Good Luck. John

I'm a bit confused though about unique hits and normal hits?
I just want my site to be shown in search engines, It's designed mostly for local use. So does unique hits put your site higher than just hits in search engines?

Do you mean views verses unique views? Or are you talking about a hit counter? You might have 1,000 page views in a month and only 700 unique views.
So the number of times a person views several of your pages verses a single visit.
To clarify - Unique views are counted only one time even if a person visits several pages. Page views counts every page visited within the site. So, the page views number is almost always higher.
I hope that helps!

It is the other way round, the higher a website is in the search engines, the more traffic it will get.

Its been eons since I have been around. I still stick with what I said bus opps on craigslist isn't worth while. However I do have to change the services thing now it just isn't as good as the product sales.
In response to article writing any articles you submit outside of your site should be different enough from what is on your site to not get hit with the duplicate content thing. It shouldn't be too hard to rewrite something into a new article.
I agree the bigger and better the list the better you will do. Be careful to not chase your list away. I like what Iceman says about traffic exchanges. I have used them for other purposes but for traffic worthless. Not sure why I didn't think about building a list though.

Quantity and quality go hand in hand if you have the content and keywords that make your website relevant.

I wrote up a nice article about my product and I was going to submit it, but all the article sites I've stumbled on say "no promoting, no selling, no commercialism at all.
So, how do you guys write articles and link to your sites?

Hi Stacy,
There are some article sites that do allow you affiliate links like Squidoo and Article Alley. You can also create a free Blog at Blogger or other such sites and put your links in the content there as well.
However, for the sites that do not allow affiliate links, you need to put a link in your signature box that links back to your site that has the affiliate links.
Don't try to "sell" your affiliate product in your article. Write a nice, clean article with good content about your particular niche and then people will click your link to see what other content you may have.
The better your article, the more chance you have of having your article picked up and distributed all over with your sig-box link at the bottom. (thats always good!)
To your success,
Michael

Basically you have to presell your interest before you can sell it.
One thing I find out is it is more difficult to get your web on top on the search engine initially, but once there, you almost don't have to promote your site at all. You customers will find you.
I am working on getting my site of my niche on the search engine. Will update you guys later. This might take a while, but I am willing to work hard on it.

HI Stacy
Some article sites allow you use a domain name that is forwarded to your affiliate link. You can get a cheap domain name at go daddy and then have it redirected to your affiliate link.
Then you put your domain name in your resource box/signature box.

I hope to find someone out there who has experience with the Screaming Eagle Marketing System with Autoadblast. I came accross this site last night but I'm not quite sure if I should invest the $12.49 to join. I need to hear from you experienced folks out there before getting deeper into this.
Surely appreciate any feedback I could get.
Thanks

You may want to buy or rent a list of opt-in leads and do an email campaign. This is a relatively cheap source of traffic that generally converts well.

Some of the techniques I use to market my websites include:
-PPC Advertising -Word of Mouth -local classifieds -online classifieds -blogging -networking -link exchange -forums
Among others. I'm definitely in agreement, though, that article-writing is one of the most useful methods I've found for generating traffic and just getting my name out there.
