Well it depends what kind of blog that you are using?
if you are using self hosted wordpress, you don't need since there is
an automatic ping services there.

well you can get traffic from:

seo,
email marketing methods
social bookmarking and networking and so on,
articles marketing
ppc
forum marketing

I'm working with blogger at the moment, and I love the program.

Thinking about creating a newsletter.

Try submitting your blog to blog directories.

I have a Blogger blog and a Wordpress. org I like Wordpress better, but Blogger is easier to use, great for beginners like myself. There's a lot to learn on Wordpress so it will take longer to make the best use of it. All the optimizing, widgets, plug-ins and such. The main thing is, content is king so keep posting good quality stuff, daily if possible.

Have you tried googling napoleon hill? You're dealing with some tuff competition.

Google: "the laws of success", napoleon hill, blogspot.

Ideally with this specific of a search you'd think you would have popped up somewhere...you do not.

This tells me that the chances of you gaining any organic traffic from searches is right up there with me winning the lotto.

What are you doing promotion wise?
I would hit your blog with article sandwich.
Article sandwich:

Several articles pointing to BLOG #1
BLOG #1 Pointing to BLOG#2
BLOG#2 pointing to your articles

It's the article marketing circle of life.

With any blog or site you put up make sure to use google analyzer so it gets indexed and you can see how google see's your site. I would also suggest visiting http://www.statcounter.com to track where your traffic is coming from.

The site is pretty good though. Am I right in assuming you're trying to sell Hill books? You have a lot of information which is good, I would maybe place a widget above my actual blog that is promoting the hill books and such.

Hope that helps.

Ive had the blog for about two weeks, no traffic yet from search engines. Ive been using google analytics to track my traffic.

I have been doing this stuff for awhile, affliate sites and what not, and even some mlm, but this is my first blog and my only goal to make money online at the moment.

I think the reason why you don't find my blog in the search engines yet, is simply because the blog is so new. Its been up for only about a week in a half id say. I write articles every night, sometimes two lol, and ping them after each update. I also subscribe to directories, i use stumble upon, and mybloglog. I have added my rss feed to feedage, and feedagg as well.

So hopefully I believe I have myself set up in a position to get some good genuine traffic. Am I wrong in assuming so, any thing else I should do? Ive read a little bit about add ons or robots that help your seo, anyone know anything of these?

Thanks everyone for you help and support thus far

If you were in the 30DC forum like I am everyday you wouldn't suggest Wordpress Direct, not yet anyway. Too many newbies losing their minds trying to get WD to work right. In fact, they're trying to transfer over to Wordpress.org to get away from WD. After they work out all the quirks/bugs it might be worth it. However, I think I'll just stay with Wordpress.org and write my own content, I know WD has auto-content and a lot of people like that idea.

The only time I might consider auto content is if I had a dead blog that I couldn't bring to life and then I could use syndicatekahuna, which is free, to help out in the content area. Then at least I could make a few dollars on it; beats nothing.

You may want to re design your blog. Although I'm not an expert in this area.

Perhaps, you will want to use a light color as your background? I think it will look better.

I agree with a lighter color from what I've read lighter and simpler is better. Blogger has a couple of templates that look more professional. The topic of your blog sounds like more professional would suit you best. I also make the mistake of going with what I like and not what is best, but I'm learning to make changes when recommended.

To write an ebook you need to get information for instance let's say you want to write an ebook on how to begin blogging. Go into the forums, this one and others, go through the threads on blogs, web hosts, domains etc. pick out the good stuff, take notes then piece it together. And Ta Da you have a simple ebook to offer newbies who know even less than you do and you learn more yourself in the process. That's what I would do if I were to consider an ebook.

Seems easy enough, has anyone here ever tried selling their own e-books?

If there is one thing that is most influential to anyone who has a blog on this forum, what is it?
