Hi all,

I'm in a rush now but will come back later to answer the questions posted for me.

I just got hired at West, finally! LOL I'd love to get opinions on the Direct Response and Virgin Mobile skills, which are what I was offered. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll be back on this afternoon. Thanks in advance!!!!

bookwurmee,

I suggest to select Virgin Mobile, DR does not pay very good anymore besides others would agree that virgin mobile is better/fun to work for. Good luck and congratulations!

ndpndnt1, I'm just finishing training so I don't know for sure about scheduling, but training is 2 hours 2 days in a row, and you have to log on during certain hours (like 10-2 or 6-10 EST). I believe after that you turn in a schedule that you want to work and have it approved. The only requirement is that you work at least 15 hours a week, 9 of which must be in the evening or on a weekend. I'm actually waiting for my call today to complete my training. The people at Verafast are very friendly, and the script is easy to follow. I think I'll like it very much. Good luck to you!

RO, thanks for the kind words about my nickname. I love to read! Mostly historical romances.

The calling with Verafast went well. The script is easy to follow, but there's a lot to remember about how to code the calls. Not so much that I was really flustered or anything, though.

I think I will take the Virgin Mobile skill. I haven't heard good things about DR. I'm so excited they finally contacted me! Good luck with Verafast, the people there are very friendly!

rsoler,
So far I like GE, when I started Mondays were .22- Tues- .20 and the rest of the week .17, but in the past month all that has changed to .17 per min. They started posting hours slowly but I have still had no problem getting plenty, you just have to learn when to look.

Hi Rsoler,

I had my phone interview with Cloud 10 today and it went well. I wanted to know how long it took you to receive projects via email? And how is it working for them?

Thanks

Lambrose,

I got an interview within 3days of applying and then after the interview the following day they offered me 5projects to select one all working for comcast tech tier but i declined because I want a customer rep position. so, if you do not take a project they will put you on hold.

Thanks for the reply. Well since my phone interview was on a Saturday, I'm guessing they won't start sending me projects til during the week. I'll have to wait and see what they send, but I am anxious to see what they will offer me.

Does anyone know if you resign from your one and only skill from West at Home will you be offered another skill or will they terminate your employment entirely. I have been working the DR account for about 3 months and I must say it is not for me. I am trying all I can to weather the storm but the upsells are driving me insane. I really can't afford to lose the little money I am receiving from West but if resigning from DR would help me to be offered another Skill faster than it would be well worth it.

I can't really say for sure, but I know when I started I had serious problems with the system on HSN, which was my only skill. I had enough experiences with the PALs to know they probably wouldn't be much help. I considered resigning but in a last ditch effort I decided to send an e-mail , in the ask a question section. I very politely explained that I loved the job but could not get the program to run correctly and asked if I could switch skills. The next thing I knew I was offered GE. I trained for it and never went back to HSN.

lilahk95,

I have been working for West for over a year and during my sears skill I was offered at one time 5 skills to choose from then the second time 3 skills to choose from. I did resigned from DR and sears withdraw from West shortly thereafter, I was without a skill for two weeks and they just offered me proflowers and I'm sure I will be offered another skill when it becomes available. As long as you just resigned from a skill not West you will be offered another skill however, you said you cannot afford to lose money right now so, entirely that would be of course, your decision but believe me the only reason your not getting an offer now is probably because they are slow and 2 please, make sure you are ranking 1 otherwise, that could effect you from getting another skill.
I hope this info helps you out GOOD LUCK!

Hello Everyone,
I was just offered Pro flowers, I am working on GE right now. Any advice on if I should take it? Are the hours only seasonal? How many are required to keep it as a skill?

Vagabond,

Proflowers is ok but is seasonal you will get the heaviest call volume IN May for the Mothers Day holiday. from 5/5-512 wil be very busy the more hours you choose to work the min per rate will increase for example the maximum of 35-40+ will pay 23per min rate. but, I said before seasonal, it's good to have on the side for holiday pay cause it pays well. Won't rely on being your only source of income of course, I too was offered the skill and just completed the webinar am waiting for my login #ss... hope this info helps the training is relatively easy and you should finish it in less than 14hrs.

RO,
Thanks so much. I think I will train for it, it will be good to have another skill, and get some extra money on the holidays. One more question, if you don't mind (actually probably 50 more, but I'll start with one) it says you have 5 days to decide and then you start training, I don't want to start training until next week (as I have a full schedule with GE this week) should I wait till later in the week to accept?

Vagabond,

I sincerely would tell you that in my opinion i think you should take it a.s.a.p waiting until next week... would put you later on to do the webinar and remember you want to be prepared for the 1st week of may by then you should of had your logins and have completed your training the sooner the better...if you have other questions shoot i don't mind. BELIEVE ME! WHEN I SAID IT IS EASY GO FOR IT!
is really not a lot i think is the easiest so far out of all skills i've trained for. Is just learning to take orders/cancelling etc.. very easy stuff!
later

I tried applying thru West, but they aren't hiring where I live at this time. That's a bummer, because from reading this thread, it seems like it's a good company to work for.

RO,
Thanks for all the help. The only thing I hate about training is you have to schedule it through Spectrum, you can't just stop and start as you have time. It let me do that with HSN, but ever since, you have to plan ahead when you are going to train.

RO & Vagabond thank you both very much for responses. It has helped me to decided to continue on with DR and tough it out. Like I said I really can't afford to lose any money right now.

RO you definitely gave me something to consider my Ranking right now is N/A (I'm not sure what that means) it was a 2...never got to the 1 status. I didn't work at all the week before last because I was out of town, so I guess that's when my status went to N/A.

Anyway I just finished a 2 hr shift and it actually wasn't too bad today...that's the thing one day is horrible and the next its tolerable.

Anyway guys thanks again for your input. Good luck to you both on your new skills!!
