Hi everyone.
I've been researching WA all day and I decided to join in.
But before that - one last question:

do I have to have anything to sell or I'll just be the bridge between seller and buyer?

because I see that a lot of people say that WA helped them in their business, which I don't have.

It really depends on how you define "sell". Your main goal will be to send traffic to company websites, and if someone buys through your link, you will recieve a commission.

There could be some "selling" involved here if you are doing a product review or something like that, but that is all done online, and really, what you are doing is pre-selling a product or recommending a service.

However, please note that you don't need to have your own products or carry an inventory, because as an affiliate, you are promoting other people's products.

For example, eBay has an affiliate program - and one of the things they offer their affiliates is $25 for every new sign up, plus 50% of eBay revenue for sales to existing customers.

So, let's say you write an article about cell phones - and you recommend that your readers visit eBay to purchase their cell phones because eBay offers great prices on cell phones. Your main goal is to encourage people to visit eBay so if they make purchases or join up as a new member, you will get credit for the sale.

Does that make sense? This is how all affiliate programs work - you make a recommendation, and when sales are made, you get a commission - and this is all done online. So yes, there could be some online selling involved, but it doesn't have to be a hard sell.

For example, I could say something like, "for more information on how to make money online, visit Wealthy Affiliate". That wasn't too bad, was it?

well, how does the company know that I was the one who recommended their product? Do I have a special link like a referal?

That's exactly it - you have a unique link code which identifies you as the one who referred the business.

These links are basically the difference between you making money online or not. This is the key throughout affiliate marketing so I guess it is the most important thing. You could be an excellent marketeer but if you don't use the right link or even worse, then you won't make very much at all.
Good luck with WA if you decide to join.

The links with your code in them are given to you by the merchant. You simply copy the code they give you and paste it in your ad or on your website or blog. You can check your link to be sure you are being given credit. That part of affiliate marketing is quite simple. It takes a little longer to get to know your audience and market to them effectively. Some people are naturals at this, others have some learning to do.

Wealthy Affiliate costs $29.99 may cancel your membership at anyse time. The support from Carson and Kyle is great, and Wealthy Affiliate comes with pre-built websites and an easy to use Site builder called Site Rubix. If you'd like to see more of what Wealthy Affiliate is about, take a look at my video - it should clarify things for you.

You refer people to a variety of different kinds of affiliate programs, which frequently come packaged as digital products, such as an ebook on how to lose weight. You can also market physical products - you can find affiliate programs for almost every product imaginable!

Hi James zz,
You are free to cancel WA every 30 days with absolutely no hassle.
I have never been disappointed for joining and have never heard or read anything negative about Wealthy Affiliate.
You can use Paypal , a debit or credit card, and the processor would handle the payments for you monthly unless you cancel.
I hope this helps!
Victoria

I read some things about the WA membership going up due to a limited amount of spaces and when that is near the max the price will go up. Is this just another marketing scheme or is it true and if so does anyone know when it may be happening?

Thanks

And by the way getagrip, the WA video you posted being about 12 minutes long. You showed us the title of a post you made when you reached your first $100 day. May i ask how long that took you to reach that mark and what is your general income success like now?

Thanks

As far as the price going up at WA, I have heard that there might be a price increase soon, but I don't know if that is rumor or fact. I know that at one point, Carson and Kyle were comtemplating that, although they did say that if they do raise the price, existing members would not be effected by it, so you definately want to get in before they increase the price if they decide to do that.

As far as my first $100 day is concerned, I need to clarify that I don't earn $100 per day, although I have had $100 days, but it took me a long time to get there - about two years after I made my first sale online. Some people will get to that point a lot faster than I did, and some will give up before they ever make it to that point, so it all just depends on the individual.

I'd say its a bad idea to go into affiliate marketing thinking you are going to start earning a bunch of money very soon, as there is a learning curve and there is lots of trial and error, but with a lot of hard work, you can definately get there if you play your cards right.

So the big question is - is trying to make a good living online really worth all the time spent/wasted? Let's face it, most people don't succeed at this game and would probably be better off concentrating their efforts on a more tangible profession.
Personally I've been trying to make some online money for about a year, but only part-time and I've come to the conclusion that I'm much better off with my day job where I earn well in excess of $100 per day and also know that it's safe and secure. With the internet you don't know if what you're doing will work or for how long. You need to have a lot of time to invest in order to find out what works and what doesn't. If you're doing it as a sideline then fair enough but I don't envy anyone who's relying on IM as a sole source of income, unless you're one of these so-called 'gurus'.

Those are very good points, and I definately wouldn't recommend that anyone "quit their job" before starting affiliate marketing - it needs to be something you do on the side.

I've averaged about $1,200 per month over the last 4 months in affiliate commissions, and my expenses are very low. I don't spend a lot of time maintaining that income - in fact, most of the income I generate is from stuff that I've already set up.

So for me, even though I struggled early on, it was definately worth the time and effort I put into getting my affiliate marketing business off the ground. I expect bigger things for the future - I just need to motivate my self to get busier!

A friend of mine from Wealthy Affiliate was able to quit his day job as a broker - and this job paid him $120,000 a year. He quit that job when his online earnings reached $500 a day (his name is Thadroe if you ever decide to look him up at the Wealthy Affiliate forum). Even he struggled at first, so it just goes to show you that persistence pays off.

Having said that, if you have the mindset that it "isn't worth it" to get started, or if you give up, then you might really miss out. It is true that not everyone "makes it" in affiliate marketing, but for those who are able to crack the code, it is definately worth it.

@ Getagrip

Your words have encouraged me. I am joining Wealthy Affiliate right now. Mainly because I have $30 right now at this time to invest. I've been searching for real programs that really teach you how to be sucessful in online marketing. I found one called SBI? Although SBI was $299 for a year. I do believe that program would have been awesome as well, I just don't have $300 to drop right now. I do understand it may take time before money starts comming in. Which is why I believe $30 a month could be in more my range to get started. Thanks for all your information to this site. You'll be seeing me on forums asking plenty of questions! Feel free to answer them!

Thanks again,
Wayne

You are doing very well at this game in my opinion but is this your main source of income? I think the set up stage is what causes the most problems as well as the tweaking stage. After you set something up you will inevitably need to go back and make some changes. These programs that suggest it's 1-2-3, plug 'n' play or some other playful slogan to 'earn' copious amounts of cash are just trawling in the suckers out there.

There are some good programs out there but they are the needle in the proverbial haystack!

Hey Wayne ~ Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate! Just a quick note on Site Build It (SBI): I've done some research on it and it looks like a great program - definately something I'd like to join at some point. I think a lot of what you learn at Wealthy Affiliate will be very similar to what you would have learned at Site Build It (with some differences), but you don't have to pay $300 up front! At any rate, talk to you in the WA forums, and I'm sure you will learn a lot!

Just a quick heads up guys.

The price of WA IS going up and soon. I don't know the exact details yet but existing members will get the info on May 6th.

As I understand it, that's the day the price goes up. But note the price will remain locked for existing members at $29.99.

So if you were thinking of joining...now's the time

Dave B

Just a quick clarification - if you join Wealthy Affiliate before May 6th, you will be locked in at $29.99 a month and you will never have to worry about a rate increase, so if you are on the fence about Wealthy Affiliate, now is the time to join!

Hi, hey i got a question about the fixed fee deadline. If i did want to cancel i read that i could by paypal by telling paypal that i dont want to let anymore payment go out. how can that be done? And also i have a card connected to paypal where if i made a purchase i dont need a balance in my paypal account as it could just use money on my card. could i pay like that or must i first transfer money to the paypal account itself by my card?

thanks

You can cancel at any time by logging into your Paypal account and cancelling the billing for Wealthy Affiliate. You are correct that the money will be deducted automatically when Paypal bills your credit card...but you need to add your card onto your Paypal account before any decuctions can be made, but its really pretty simple.

Hi All,

I have just signed up to WAHF. I stumbbled across WA a few days ago and have since been researching and doing a little DD. It sounds really good. I have been burned, scammed, and lied to just like everyone else! But the good thing is the Hunger is still there!!

I am joining up in a couple of days, hence my introduction! Dave B and Getagrip, I have checked out some of your products...sadly not joining/Buying YET! But it gives me confidence to see that you strongly promote WA and your own products.....well done by the way! I look forward to the day when I can do the same!

So hello again!! Hope to catch ya around and see you in WA forums soon.

Cheers

Ok, let's cut to the chase..I have been on the net for a very long time, joined a lot of programs made a few bucks but I lost a lot also. I have been searching for the program that will take me to the next level and I have bought ebooks and tried the methods outline in the ebook but with no success.. I do have some experience in marketing but not a lot of time..

is this the real deal?? I can't afford to lose anymore money.

thx

Dominique

Hey Christie ~ make sure to say hi when you get in the door!

I'm not sure how much the price will be going up, as the details won't be released until May 6th, although I expect it to be affordable for most people. I do know that a new tool will be released when the price increase, so you are still going to get a lot of value from your Wealthy Affiliate membership even if you join after the price increase, but you will definately save money if you can join before May 6th!
