There is not much I can tell you other than what the lady who interviewed me told me. You call customers to welcome them to the neighborhood give them a free copy of newspaper etc. of course they always have a different campain. The pay every week and the pay is what you put into it. I am a hard worker so I always try to do as much as I can. Hope this helps.

I have a 2 part question. Do you need to be using internet explorer to be able to work for most of the work from home companies? I applied for ADC on Feb 22, 08 How long did most of you wait before you heard from them? I interviewed with Convergys yesterday. The contract they offered me was DR and fulltime 7am -3:30. I did not except it for one I want part time and more fleibility and two I am not interested in all the upselling with DR.

Can anyone explain the ranking for the my performance on DR a bit better. It says when you roll over it that one is the highest and two is the lowest. I guess my three is bad then?

highest ranking is one - two is medium and three is not good!! I don't think I ever had a three on any of my projects - I've been doing this for over a year - and am on DR, HSN, ProFlowers and Epiq

Hi Rosielopey,
I can really tell you how long it will be before they invite you to train for another skill. I have been invited 3 times already and I'VE been with them since May 07, as I SAID before I declined the DR SKILL for many reasons I've already mentioned here. My advice to you is to keep the DR if is your only skill...once you keep your performance/stats in good rep you will be invited for a skill soon. I hope everything goes well with verafast for you. I just completed the ACD and I really like it I know is seasonal but is extra money I CAN make I don't worry because I do have West too. so it works out for me. ACD looks simple just taking donations a very simple work compare to West. So, I'm happy I have completed it. I could not finish the DHL SKILL it did expired cause I was so busy juggling with ACD training and working. SO I DID requested for an extension and west hr is suppose to get back to me on that. IF not I don't worry because I know I will get another invitation in near future. I'm going to keep seeking other opportunities because what I'm really aiming for is to get a skill that pays by the hr versus min per rate but I will keep West/ACD. Hang in there, you will get an invitation don't worry. LET me know how verafast goes for you I'm going to check them out tomorrow.

I have only worked 3 30 min. shifts so far. First ever got the 3 calls that didn't go so well. 2nd I got no calls at all and third I only got 1 but got the sell and 2 APO's. But my call time on that one was about 15 min. What do they base your ranking on? When do you get something on your feedback or coaching?

I've tried to apply on the West website and the application keeps timing out on me. I really don't take long at all to fill it out either. It also won't let me sign back in.

Anyone else have trouble with their website working properly?

Hey StormyDawn,
Just wanted to share that when I started out they put me as a 3. I freaked out and called a pal and they said the reason is because they hired so many new people. I ended up at a 2 and have been holding there. I haven't worked many hours because there are not many to pick up. When you start out you are suposed to be a 2 for at least two weeks. You can find this info on their website under support option. Hope this was a little helpful.

To all that only have the DR skill from West, my advice is simply to start looking for other options at this time DR has hired to more than 3 Companys to take care of there calls which means you will not be busy at all hence, hrs per min will be low and pay no good. Sorry but the truth is if it is your only skill you need to start looking for another work at home job. I have never seen West pay .15per min on a skill it seems DR is the only skill paying that right now fluctuating but not doing good at all. So, please don't wait around for an invitation from West if it is your only source of income you need to start looking for another company to wrk for. That is the reason why I declined it when it was offer to me. I hope this helps and motivates you to do something else and fast to increase you income.

My advice to you is to reapply with ACD they seemed to hire a lot of people when they will be busy during the quarterly period. anyway as far as DR FOR Convergys I was offered that skill and I declined it with Convergys and West. You will not make much money on that skill right now rd above what I have experienced so far...regarding DR and most that do have that skill can tell you it's not worth it too many headaches for little pay. DR is getting slick hiring more than 3 Companies to have agents so they can lower the min rate. CONVERGYS/WEST Both have a contract with DR. That is not good news for the agents working for this skill, I hope this info helps. The only good thing of Convergys is that they give you benefits and pay by the hr but I did not want to get stuck with DR you may want to think about that before you do accept it.

Hey guys, wow I haven't checked into this forum in a while, but am glad to see that I am not the only one discouraged with West. It is so ironic that a month or more ago I was singing their tune after I got sick and couldn't work for a whole week and traded my hours, and didn't have to worry about losing my job.

Not long after that, tho, there were no hours to pick up in DR. I mean who wants 3 1/2 hour shifts in one week? I put up with the upsells, before, because i rarely got monitered, and I was working 36 or more hours, the pay was steady.

Then, I get a call a few days ago, saying that they never recieved my work ID papers and notarized work authorization, all the stuff that you have to do in the beginning. OMG I have been working for West since September, and they just found that out now? Which, isn't even true, because I sent it all by mail, by fax and by email in the beginning. When I called HR they swore they never got any of it!! I know I sent it, you have to give that stuff at any job. I did go and get a new notarized form, but, haven't sent it in. Well I have since been locked out of West. LOL I guess I can laughed because I am prevented from working 1 1/2 hour a week for a min wage job, that drove me nuts with upsells. LOL Thank goodness for my other job, but its not enough so needless to say I am on the job hunt again!!

Anyway, it was good while it lasted and thanks all for the information that you share here. It helps to read the experiences of others.

let me start by saying that I am a work at home employee - that's it!! what nobody seems to understand before bashing west is that do you have ANY idea of how many agents they have? do you know that when they converted independent contractors last september there were OVER 10,000!! do you know that they get at least 2,500 applications a week for the work at home positions?? i am willing to bet you knew little or none of this. they have a business to run. they need to make sure they have enough staff to do it. people are so irresponsible these days that they have to have enough staff hired to cover their butts with their clients and make sure that they have a, b and c to work the shifts that d, e and f had signed up for but decided they didn't want to work today. it's a business, people - don't take it personally. if people would work the shifts they have scheduled themselves for - then that wouldn't be a problem now, would it? it's not for everyone - if you don't like the upsells - don't take the job. i'm so tired of people complaining about things that they have the choice not to take part in. you all sound like whiny kids!!

Suppose to work today and cannot get the ADE screen to open. I called a PAL and was told that many are having trouble with this currently and they are trying to get it fixed. That I should just keep trying. I asked if I would get in trouble for this and was told no. So then this should not affect my ranking or show up rate either? Has any one ever had this trouble before?

if it's longer than 20 minutes past your start time and you can't get in - call and tell them you want ET - excused time - it's not your fault that they are having problems and you shouldn't be penalized for it. overall it won't matter much as things are all averaged out!

sometimes you have to be firm with them - it's not your fault their system is down - so you shouldn't be penalized!! keep me posted and good luck!

I really don't believe that we mean to sound like whiny kids. I think it is more frustration, and I believe it helps to let things out. About bashing West, maybe there are some that do but I have never done that. I like them and will stick with them. We knew that there were upsells and apo's but I think the amount of them kind of surprised some of us. As far as upsells I don't have a problem with those the hurdle for me is the apo's. It would be great if some of the seasoned agents that work the dr daily could give us more insight on these such as how do you handle someone that keeps interrupting you or says point blank they don't want it. When I go to the chart we are to go back to reading the script. The couple of times I read the bypass statement because I felt that is was appropriate at that time it just so happened I was monitored and according to them I did not do it correctly. Of course I really felt bad because I like to do my job correctly. The pals are great people with help but sometimes the best help comes from someone that does it day after day. I did look for another job but not to leave west but to break up my day so I do not reach burn out by doing the same thing day after day. Of course when skills are offered I will take advantage of those and then just primarily work for west. From the skills that you have you have been with them for quite awhile. What ever you could share with us that are doing the dr project regarding overcoming problems with the upsells and apo's, I believe would be appreciated by all.

Still holding! Aghhh! Hope that means there are others experincing problems today and it's not just me. Lol! Posting a few of my shifts for trade just so i don't get any marks for missing a shift and because I am still on hold of course.

Please don't take that as EVERYONE is like that - not a blanket statement - but applies to so many - but not all! I've been with West for over a year now - and yes - have a few projects that I work on. If I remember correctly from training - if a person says 2 times - no - then you can bypass the upsells. I know it's not easy sometimes - but the general public should know by now that everyone is looking to increase the revenue - and the best way is through upsells. I have never been one (even before working for west) to call a number for a product - so always order on line to avoid all the upsells. This is a part-time job for me - and I am in sales for my full-time job - so I have learned through the years that it's all in how you present it. If you go at the call with a "crap - here's another upsell I'm going to have to push" tone - they will sense that. If you go at it as it's a great offer - they are more apt to listen and not be so hesitant. It's hard sometimes, I know - you feel like you are taking advantage of some people - but it's part of the job so you have to "suck it up" - so to speak and go at it with a rah rah rah attitude. Okay worked my shift. All orders went good. Although when I called pay earlier about et for the down time I was having they said they could excuse 30 min only and the one before said they could excuse most of it. I mean as long as they do not fire me for it I am okay with it because I am sure I can get my marks back up.

just document it - make sure you put things like this on your end of shift survey so they have record of these - and keep a log as well - that helps!

Someone told me that if you scheduled yourself several 30 minute shifts that would help get the showup rate back up quicker than just scheduling your self a couple hours at a time. I did this, when I had connection problems and no one picked my shift up on trade so that sunk my numbers and adding several 30 minute shift helped raise my showup rate.

Thank You Rosie! Thats how I have been set up today, with a couple 1 hour shifts thrown in so maybe tommorow it will be up some.
Is there any rules as how to you are to answer a customer when they ask if you have tried the product and if you think it is worth the price. I know you shouldnt say No! I wouldn't pay that. I have got a lot of ? like this and have just answered no I am not famuliar with prod. and that they do come with a 30 day gaurntee if shes not happy.
