The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that hospital emergency rooms treat about 12,500 people each year for falls, cuts, shocks, and burns caused by faulty holiday lights, dried-out Christmas trees, and other decorating mishaps.

One thing I'll say about holiday lighting is that the more lights you have strung together on your tree or around your house, the higher likelyhood that you will get a short, which can cause a fire. So...DON'T STRING TOO MANY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TOGETHER AS THIS CAN CAUSE A FIRE!
