You all know what a mini-CD is and I'm sure you've seen them.

What is you opinion about starting a service that would provide mini-CD Business Cards to businesses, professionals and even students?

Pros? Cons?

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray,

I don't think I have been handed a mini-cd card in a couple of years. Of the ones I was handed I am pretty sure they all went into the trash with out ever getting near my computer.

4 or 5 years ago they were an interesting idea but now they are not really cutting edge. Disc based media is on the way out. Hell, I haven't bought a CD in over 3 years.

On a technical side note, mini-CD's will not play on a slot loading CD drive.

Why do you say disk based media is on the way out?

And how many people have a slot loading drive?

Thanks,

Ray

Maybe "Business Card" is not the proper term. Although it can be a
standard business card with additional information on it, it could also contain anything a business wants to get out to prospective clients.

For instance, it could contain information on:

* Product Announcements
* Entertainer Auditions
* Catalogs
* Corporate Brochures
* Business Cards
* Press Kits
* Trade Show Demos
* Import/Export Business
* Schools/College (curriculum)
* Resumes
* Auditions
* Sales Training
* mini-Web Sites
* Grand Opening Announcements
* Music/Singing/Band Demos
* Training Material
* Political Campaigns
* Travel Guides/Bureaus

Text, audio and video information can be used on the mini-CD/DVD.

Get the idea?

Disc's aren't going away for everything but they are on their way out. Cd sales are off by major %'s, same with DVD's. People use USB thumb drives to share files because they are smaller and can hold dozens of discs worth of data.

Slot loading drives are common on laptops especially thin ones, all in one PC's and all Mac's.

From the perspective of a potential customer the problem is cost. Those discs cost between $1-$1.50 a business card with a website on it is $0.10 and it can be updated at will.

In short don't bother with them... any time i got one i threw it away. they remind me of the annoying AOL cd's that came in the mail every week. With regular business cards though I still have some peoples from 4 years ago!
