Hi all,

I am new to this forum.

Do you think any hobby can be monetised?

I love writing poems and songs. Writing poems for special occasions always thrilled me like writing a poem for some ones birth day, poems for wedding albums etc. Even while purchasing greeting cards, I go through the wordings and come up different new once, better once. I can turn anything and everything into song, I love doing it.

Do you think I can make money out of it? Is there a way to bring poems and business together?

I have asked many questions.

Thanks You
Norma.

Yes! Norma any hobby that you can be passionate about can be turned into a home-based business. I recommend using the power of the internet and to take you ideas and make a website through Site Build It. SBI specializes in anyone who wants to turn their hobbie into a online business and took a novice like myself into a webmaster with my ideas and produce an income online.

Welcome to the forum, Norma!

You seem to have a passion for writing poems and songs. It shows in your post. That passion can definitely be used to create a great product.

There is a romantic living inside each of us. Valentine's Day is among the biggest holidays in the US for sharing and expressing sentiments of the heart. Birthdays, anniversaries and graduations are other occasions where poems, songs and cards are very much appreciated.

Simply figure out how you would package and market your passion, and then go for it!

Hi Norma,

I agree that you can turn your love of writing poetry into a business. It won't be quite as easy as some niche topics because people are usually coming online looking for FREE poems, etc., so it can be tricky to monetize.

The advertising probably isn't that competitive as a result (kind of like recipes).

BUT, since you love to write fresh poetry, I think there would be a demand for unique personalized poetry to be written for special occasions.

You could create a niche topic site on the subject of poetry, but then offer your services for hire. You could have a form that people filled out where you ask them a range of questions about...

1. The type of poem they want.
2. How long they want it to be.
3. The recipient's likes and dislikes.
4. Special references they would like included.

Etc.

Taking their information provided, you could then create a poem for them that is a one-of-a-kind.

In the beginning, I would offer the service free for a number of clients in exchange for a testimonial of your service. This way people will be more inclined to pay up front for the service when they see you've got happy customers.

Like Bill, I highly recommend using SBI to build this type of business. If you follow their step-by-step site building plan, you'll be sure to make a success of it.

Blessings,
Angie

Norma

What ever you do...DO NOT fall for some of the ads in magazines that say something like "Your poem set to music"! Those folks will take you for a financial ride and you'll end up with nothing.
I personally have been writing since I was 16 years old and have been playing music since age 7....that was 53 yrs ago.
I have written ,recorded and released 2 CD's..."Blueeyed Country" and "Cowboys Do Rock". On the latter of the 2 I spent around 10 thousand dollars to produce and give me 1 thousand market ready copies.
If you do songs.....First of all..COPYRIGHT them. next you will need a studio..and if ya dont sing...the studio will provide a demo artist to do your demo.
If you need a studio, try Dixiana Studios on music row in Nashville,TN. Contact Phil Lister there and tell him Donnie Cox sent ya. Those guys will do ya a great job for a reasonable price.
At this point I'm not going in to what a song plugger or promoting a song can cost you...but i will say...IT AINT CHEAP!
Look me up and listen to my music on CDBABY.com if ya like.
And if ya need any help on the song writing business...just send me a PM and I'll be happy to help!
Wishin ya great success.........
