There are a number of ways to advertise your business and/or generate free traffic.

Some have been mentioned above, but you could also look up the free classified sites and post ads there. You could find related forums to your topic. My site business is about chocolate candy, so I could type in chocolate candy + forum in the search engine and find forums that discuss my topic. Then when I post helpful answers, I can leave a link in my signature file, like we do here.

Also, do the same thing with directories. For instance, chocolate candy + directory and see what comes up. Obviously, use your own business concept keyword.

You could post information in wikipedia or write articles and post a link to your site there.

Another thing is to ask for link exchanges with other related sites, but not competitive ones if you can help it.

Those are free things you can do, but you can also pay for ads (which I don't recommend) if you can afford to do this.

The best thing to do, in my opinion is to build more keyword focused quality content pages on your site about your business topic and let the engines generate the traffic for you.

I hope that gives you some help.

Another free method is Squidoo. You can make lens on any topic.

Use Digg, Delicious and Stumble upon to get visitors right away and help with google rankings.

I also use US Free Ads although recommend to pay the $10 a month upgrade. you can also buy feature ads which get more exposure which cost anywhere from $10 and up (one time payment)

traffic swarm works for me. But do make sure to put on all 10 ads on the free version. I surf for credits while watching TV! I have seen others say that they join several of these traffic exchanges and surf in rotation. I haven't tried this.

p.s. Im learning loads here!

A great way to advertise is to have a Blog or submit articles. If your business is online you can drive traffic to your site. and if your business is not online you can get people emailing or calling you inquiring about your business. Try Articles Factory, Content Desk and Idea Marketers.

I hope that was helpful

You got a lot of great advice from these ladies. This is the best forum I'm a member of, by far. Nothing beats a bunch of moms brainstorming together.

My advice is try optimizing your web pages for the search engines and them submit them through to the "Big 4" at least. My server has a feature that allows me to submit to a lot of search engines with 1 button. But the only 4 that really matter are google, yahoo, msn, and ask.com. Google and ask are in my server's submit list but the other 2 I have to submit manually when I make big changes to my site.

I was sick for about a week and my site was a mess. But, I did a complete overhaul and then I resubmitted to the search engines.

If you need help with how to optimize your pages, I have an articles in my [Link removed - Admin] page about SEO.

What I've found with my site is that the best thing to do in the work at home niche is to find ways to help your visitors before you try to monetize. Give your readers great information and they will come back and because they'll want to see what you have to say.

I definitely agree with Chantellah's advice about blogging. Make sure you do keyword research because the niche you're in is very competitive.

I would not recommend paid advertising until you start to get some traffic and get yourself out there a little bit. Especially if you're site is a cookie cutter type site.

I hope this information was helpful to you. Good luck in your work at home adventure, you're in for some fun once you really get into it.

Article sumission, free classifieds, free press releases and signature link for forums have all worked very well for me. There's so many free ways and very low cost ways to generate quality traffic. The key is to do it consistently, you WILL get results. Good luck to you!

I suggest you to place your URL in social networking sites like myspace.com or digg.com for getting more traffic.

I like advertising in LinkReferral.com because I'm getting helpful reviews of how I can improve my site.

That's the great thing about LinkReferral - it's free!

(You do need to review at least 5 sites a day, or 'surf' through 30 sites a day, or make 1 post to their forum a day to keep your site near the top of your chosen category. And, it does help to be able to put their banner somewhere on your site also.

I've never found this to be a problem, as I enjoy looking at other people's sites - I've actually found quite a few that have been very helpful to me).

Or, you can upgrade to automatically keep your site in the top spots. (I looked it up and this option is $35.00 per month, but they also have other options available that you can see at their website).

Bizmom,

Are you posting your home based business opportunity directly on Craigslist or are you using a leads capture page? I find that if you offer something of value in exchange for their information, this works very well.

Offer something of course that a network marketing individual would be interested in or it won't be very effective.

Seriously, this technique generates, from Craigslist and Backpage alone, more leads than I can handle in a day. You might also want to come up with a Web 2.0 marketing campaign as well. This is ideal because you get to know the people before they come to you requesting information. There is already an established report if you go about it without a salesey feel.

Hope This Helps,

Sheree

The best form of advertising or promoting is by using SEO methods..Presently, there is nothing compared to it...You can try promoting it through different forums related to it, however, i doubt it would be of any use or not...
