I have several wordpress sites, and only know how to do the basic stuff on them and they never look the way I want them to. So my question is: is there a ebook or other information that would help me take my sites to the next level? Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what "the next level" would be for you, but here's a site you can check out for yourself. You might find something useful.

Matthew Wolfe - The Word Press Classroom 2.0

TheWordPressClassroom uses video lessons to illustrate and explain how to do just about all there is to do with a WordPress blog. There are free Basic and Intermediate video lessons available. To access the more advanced stuff you need to become a member.

What types of things are you trying to do with your sites? I know a lot about Wordpress so feel free to ask me any questions.

The one tricky thing about Wordpress is that no theme operates exactly the same, what works for customizing one theme may not work for another. Essentially with enough programming knowledge you can transform themes and make them look entirely different than what they started. However, if you don't have any experience editing php code the best thing to do is to start with a theme that already looks and functions the way that you want it to.

Thank you, I have done the free basic video's from Matt and they are well done , maybe time to look at the more advanced membership. I am leaning that not all themes work the same. So a lot of trial and error and time!

Like I mentioned before starting with a good theme helps...if you can find a theme that provides some sort of documentation on how to set things up it can really help.

I think that WooThemes has about 9 free themes and I believe there is documentation that goes along with them.

For a lot of the sites that I make for my clients, I like the themes at ThemeForest. These aren't free (they usually average around $30) but they all come with great documentation and many of them come with advanced functionality that is easy to modify.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for information- I have checked for documentation of the ones I was using and found that they were out of date. Thanks for the suggestions and I will check them out.

Mate learn CSS and how to manipulate the themes code.

So far this escapes me they tell me you just keep learning an dthen have a moment of clarity where it all comes together.

I am waiting for that moment, 2 of my mates can do it and they make changes to thier site so fast it makes my cry inside.

Good luck mate

I would suggest finding one theme that you like which is customizable and sticking with it for all your sites. I personally like a theme called Graphene. It is free and can be installed through the Wordpress theme directory. You can visit the developers webpage here: http://www.khairul-syahir.com/wordpress-dev/graphene-theme.

Hope this helps!
