I am happy to be here again. I hope you guys are doing good.
I need help from all of you. I intend to open an online store dealing in cosmetic products. I do have all the resources; however, I don't know how to promote it? How do you market a new online store? Can someone give me valuable tips, suggestions and inputs? I am aware of blog commenting, forum writing and article writing. I don't want to indulge in all this. These strategies don't interest me. Can someone suggest other options to me?

Hi Susan,

You can promote your store using social media networks such as Facebook & Twitter.

Are you using Wordpress? If so, create a page for your store in the Ads & Pages area, and also a badge for your store that you can use across the web for promotion. You need to already have an FB account to do this.

Create a Twitter page for your store and put a 'follow us on Twitter' badge on your webpage. Find and follow other people in your niche (usually they follow you back). Use a plugin on Wordpress to automatically update FB & Twitter when you publish a new item in your store.

Put the links to your FB & Twitter pages in your email signature.

Create an RSS feed for your store and syndicate - this works well if you have some unique content (title and descriptions) for each item in your store.

I know you said you were'nt interested in article marketing, forum posing etc, but unless you've got a very niche site with little competition, you may need to employ those methods to get as many backlinks as possible to your store - cosmetics is quite a competitive area.

I hope that helps!

Good luck,
Shazzbut

Hi Susan,

Welcome to the forum.

What I would suggest you do before you jump into this is to buy a book called:

How I made my first MILLION On The Internet

By Ewen Chia.

Get that book. Read it. Get informed. It will also inspire you a whole lot.

You can get it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

I am not an expert in the field but if you do not want to waste your time on free traffic methods which as mentioned would bring some back links than it seems PPC or other paid methods seems to be something you might want to consider. In addition you might want to look into you tube video marketing.

Good Luck!

Looks like everyone has pretty much covered your options here - depends on your budget, of course... most of us didn't have much of a budget when we were starting out so we went for the free ways and I am so glad I learned all that stuff now.

I would just add that if you DO go for a pay per click option, get some training before you jump into it. Otherwise, you may find yourself learning some painful and expensive lessons.

Good Luck!
