When you have the most reliable Google Toolbar, why you need other sites to check your pagerank?

Well, unfortunately for me, got a 0/10, but just got it running this weekend. So, hopfully when I am done with it, it will increase as I optimize it more.

Google usually updates PageRank once a month or even less frequently and their toolbar does not accurately reflect PR

Inbound links are not the only thing that determines pagerank. The age of your domain name, the number of pages in your website, and the frequency of content updates (more is better) improves your pagerank.

Also, it takes months to see a change in pagerank. Rather than stressing over pagerank, use Alexa.com to track your website's progress. It's a much better tool and gives you far more info than google's 1 - 10 ranking.

I'm sure you've already thought of this but I'll throw it out there anyway....

Are all those 100 sites that are linked to you relevant to your website?

Mine is 1/10. Yesterday it was a 2/10 but it just changed... I don't know why.

My PR also came down to 2 once from 3 and then went up again to 3. Does anyone have an idea of why such a thing happens.

The PR of a website seems to be changing on a daily basis

Actually, I suspect the best way to check pagerank is to register your website with google sitemaps. They tell you what your pagerank is and show the dispersal between all of your pages.

Remember that your pagerank isn't updated instantly. It's actually more along the lines of months at a time - so all it takes is patience and consistently making the effort to get more links pointing to your site.

Good luck!

I think pageRank is over-rated. Success depends heavily on targeted traffic. Getting inbound links from high traffic, relevant websites is more important for generating income. My pageranks have always been low but i concentrate on getting interested customers through filtered traffic.

Google have many datacenters and some time you have different page rank from different datacenters.

Even google toolbar doesn't give an updated PR.
