    Hi Everyone,

I'm happy to say things are steadily improving as I try new approaches. I'll report more on that later after some more tests.

I am in the process of testing some new server side auto responder scripts that I picked up for $5 and I'll share the source, just as soon as I test everything thoroughly and know that it is as good as it seems.

For now, I'd like to ask your opinion. Its about bounce rate. Mine is around 60%. I think this is high and I suspect that to drop in time.

Has anyone any thoughts, opinions on this.

Thank you. I am really grateful for this forum and hope eventually to be one of the learned sharing more with us newbies.

    That is very high.

Bounce rate is categorized as hard bounce or soft bounce. Hard
bounce is when the email is returned as an invalid email address.
This usually happens when the user mistyped the email by accident
or on purpose. A hard bounce could also be caused by spam filters.

Soft bounce is when the email is returned because
of a temporary problem on the recipient server. This usually
happens when the user mailbox is full or something is wrong with
the recipient's server at the time.

If your emails are being returned as an invalid email address then
you probably have users entering bogus emails.

You may also want to check to see if your server is blacklisted.
Often some other site(s) on the same host has been blacklisted as
a spam and that affects other sites hosted on the same server.

The normal bounce rate could be anywhere between 5-15%. 60%
    is definitely way too much.

But then again, how many emails are in your list?

    Thanks 040107

I think I confused my point by mentioning the autoresponder.

What I meant was the bounce rate of visitors to my site.

I have no problem with my email, autoresponder - more about that later.

Any thoughts now that I've clarified things?

    Thanks,

    Birdgirl.

That depends on how you are sending your visitors to your lead capture page. Visitors that arrive at your lead capture page by reading one of your articles or forum posts are already presold and hence are more likely to opt in than those who arrive through online ads.

And then it also depends on your lead capture page as well. Just lot of hype, graphics may turn off some. Using testimonials will also help a lot in conversions.
