I just put a forum on my website and it has been there for about 4 weeks but I can't seem to generate any interest or discussions. Is this hard to get going? What can I do to draw attention to it or encourage others to participate? Any advice would be appreciated.
Start topics with some information to set the direction you want for the forum. If you really want a boost hire some posters or bribe some friends to post. 4 weeks is nothing to worry about, it takes time to build a following. Put on sharing buttons and then share it yourself to get it started. It will grow exponentially as more people share it too. If it's worth sharing that is, so make it worth sharing.
I suppose it depends on your niche and the topic of your forum. I offer a free mini ebook download for joining mine. I also post a link on facebook to the interesting threads there and ask for input. I have gotten quite a few members this way. People love to solve the problems of others and people love to be heard.
