    Hello Everyone!

This is for anyone who struggles to find gold mine keywords. In other word - high traffic keyword with low competition. [IMG]

Many people get confused why we should use quotation marks in Google search engine ??“ I use to be one of them.[IMG]

I often get this question asked:

I don't put quotation marks ("") around my keywords when searching in Google for a web site/article I am looking for. Then why should I when doing keyword research?

    The answer to this question:

The quotation marks ("") around your keywords is to help you with your research. The quotes allow you to ascertain your competition.

Therefore conducting a search at Google WITHOUT the quotes, gives you results from their Articles, WebPages etc that contain your keywords IN ANY COMBINATION.

An example of this is - if your keyword is "Quickest way to improve credit", Google will pick up sites that might include "quickest" and "improve credit", but not necessarily in that order (or even grouped together).

    However...

... conducting a search WITH quotes, gives you results that include pages that contain your EXACT keyword phrase.

This gives you an idea of the TRUE competition you are up against.

When you use quotes, it brings up your most prominent competition.

In other words, people who know a bit about what they are doing to rank for those keywords.

Using keywords in quotation marks just tells you more precisely who and how many you are competing against with your chosen keywords.

Using "" is just a tool to give you an edge on your competition.

    That's the difference folks!

I'll give you a current example that I quickly researched just now:

Type in the Google search engine the keyword phrase ??“ how to build a glass house

Directly below your typed in phrase (how to build a glass house) you will see the results 56,700,000 searches without quotes. Try it now for yourself.

And now type in the keyword phrase in the Google search engine with quotes like this "how to build a glass house" you should see figures of around 1,080 just below the keyword phrase you typed in. This exact term shows you are only competing with 1,080 pages - not 56,700,000.

I would advise you not to go for any thing higher than 50,000 competing pages ??“ the lower the better.

In fact for complete newbie's I would highly recommend up to 10,000 competing pages. You will achieve faster results and it will keep you motivated. This will build your confidents up and once your experience enough start going for higher competing pages.

However before you consider using this as a key phrase you need to know how much traffic this key phrase receives daily/monthly. In this instance its only receives 73 searches a month ??“ too low not worth your time and effort. You want at least 2000+ searches a month.

Go to Google keyword tool and check it out yourself...

    Does that make sense?

Don't worry if it hasn't; [IMG]just keep reading it over and over till it does. Read it the next day, then the following day. It took me weeks to understand! Read it then experiment with it.

Keyword research is the most important; you need to make sure you get it correct.

Take your time with keyword research. Think of it as you building the foundation of a building, if you get it wrong then the whole building will collapse.[IMG]

Putting quotes in keywords use to confuse me a lot back then, but once you no it, you think to yourself why I didn't understand it when it so simple. May be its just me...I'm a bit slow. (I think...)

Remember folks....HIGH traffic keyword with LOW competition is the key to success.[IMG]

You get better idea when you include allintitle: "keyword", as title is one of the most important things in SEO. Searching just with quotes is not enough.

Not that i don't know how to do keyword research...i can do it very well and have even sold keyword research (not doing it anymore, as im just busy with my own business).

I still help friends out, when someone asks help or advice [IMG]

Excellent advice Sahan. Sometimes I neglect the quotes when doing keyword research but will keep it in mind going forward.

    Thanks for the reminder!

I agree about taking a step further of using the allintitle.

I use this personally too but I didn't want to mention this just now as it may overwhelm who are new into this. I no I was. I thought I take it a step at a time as this will clear up using quotes when doing keyword research.

As it has been mentioned now I will explain it a bit more for the newbie's.

Basically folk's allintitle tells you how many web pages have your keyword phrase in their title. The less your competitive web sites have your keyword in their title the easier it is for you to compete.

I also do a url search by searching on Google for allinurl:(Have YOUR KEYWORD IN HERE without the bracket in Google search)

This tells us how many pages have your keyword phrase in their URL.

I have battled with this myself but the explanation from Sahan clears things up a bit. I think I have been fumbling before. I also bought a product long ago (not knowing why) and never used it till now. It shows quite a bit more info and WOW I now understand what I am doing.

    Thanks to all. [IMG]

    Nice break down Sahan!

I also found that with keyword research, in addition to search voulumes , it is also key to check for search trends (i.e are the amount of searches for that keyword in a rise?)

    A good little nugget there!

    To your success,

Absolutely so true on keyword research. If you play your cards right, you can get an absolute gold mine and get your content on the first page of google within 24 hours. I was able to do it and so can you. I use another keyword software tool instead of the free google search tool.

agree low competition high search volume is the key to success.

But to get a keyword like that will be a perfect ideal scenario, which doesn't happen usually. That's why the long tail keyword theory is still alive.

And it is impossible to get a keyword with phrase sv above 2000 and competition below 50,000. You would never get a keyword like that. I have never got. Have you?

The task of optimizer is to find out optimial keyword whoose competition can be managed as well as visitors are going trick in to the website.

As the competition decreses the sv decreses. For 50,000 i feel you get keywords with only search volume of 10 - 50 per month.

To prove you are wrong, i can do a fast keyword research for you. Will find you lots of keywords, with competition under 30,000...even under 10,000. Search volume 900+ every month. Any niche. Pick a niche and i will do it for you [IMG]. Free. Takes 30min, so i don't mind.

    Thanks Sahan,

    My main question though is...

Why can I find my site in "" in google, but I literally have no position when you type in the keyword without quotes?

I don't get it and have been very frustrated with this...

    Thanks,

In my opinion I would recommend less than 400 pages in the search results and you would get first page results in google. Have 10 articles like that and you could see like 50 unique visits a day.

I understood through my program(the program that I use to work!) that the keyword search is important but now I know 100% that this is the key to success. You know when you learn something new that you are always worried if what you think is right but your explanation just made it so clear!!!![IMG]

Hi Margo Tuul, i am looking for long tail golf keywords. I need more than 2000 global per month and less than 30,000 competion results ideally less than 10,000. Do you think you could find some for me? I just can't get anywhere near it. The closest i have is 62,000 for 2400 global searches per month. The golf nich is soooooo competative!
