    Hi,

Some of you may remember me from before. I used to post quite regularly here on all matters to do with working from home. Due to other commitments I really didn't have the time to continue but I am now back and would like to put a pretty broad question out there.

What are the big changes over the past 5 years in the world of affiliate marketing?

    Welcome back Hemjoe. :)

One of the biggest changes I've seen is Google updates. The Panda and Penguin updates made big impacts on ways to drive traffic.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have been reading a little about the updates brought in. From what I have been reading it seems these new updates have really clamped down on the spamming side.

Am I right in saying the Panda update was primarily brought in to deal with poor quality content and the penguin to stop such things as duplicate content, keyword stuffing and cloaking?
If this is correct have you found it harder to place yourself in the natural listings as the quality of the competition must have increased?
I guess the bottom line is more care needs to be taken when link building and content writing to avoid breaching these new rules.

If you don't mind me asking has this had an impact on your websites and the way you optimize them?
Also have you noticed any SEO techniques become redundant because of this?
