here is a pretreating stain remover:

    1/2 cup ammonia
    1/2 cup white vinegar
    1/4 cup baking soda
    2 tablespoons liquid soap
    2 quarts water

Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray the liquid onto the stain, and let it sit for a few minutes. Launder as usual.

A Variation: Use soap flakes and baking soda wqhen washing stained natural fabrics. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to the rinse to keep colors bright.

Can't wait to try this one. My son plays baseball and his pants are always stained with red dirt. Tried just white vinegar.....just okay.
Will post results after laundry day.

Yes I remember that red dirt I hated that stuff!!! It is the worst when it comes to laundry it is the iron I think in the dirt that is so bad. I will research somemore and see what I can find out. also another good pretreater is Greased lighting which was originally forumulated at clemson South Carolina. It is really good stuff too. Also there is another product that you can find in the dollar stores called WOW. I was really surprised at how good it works too. But I have regular dirt here not that red clay you find in the south
