When my blog (RuinedMyTrip) recently got featured on a news site, MoneyLife.in, it received 2.2K visitors in one day (from 30 a day) and the count is just exploding. Majority of them are through Facebook and Twitter. Facebook' like, Tweets, and Share went from 19, 0, 6 to 240, 186, 70 in just one day! Just to show what a cumulative effect of strong content + news + social media can do to your website.
Wow Vishal, what an ordeal. Glad you didn't let it spoil your vacation. Sounds like a lot of people had similar experiences. No doubt all the comments helped get it indexed faster. Getting featured on the news site is only part of the story, the story is a lesson in standing up for yourself and others. That's why they "liked" you.

Do you ever use other social sites like Linkedin or Stumbleupon to drive visitors? I have had fairly good success with these.
