hmmm company taking money without authorization yikes!! If you like writing for a living what about guru or elance. And ezinearticles and the like you can get good traffic from.

Why not turn your creativity into a business with your own website and monetization set in place. With the right company, tools and support this can easily be achieved.

Think big and you san achieve some outstanding results if you make some good decisions and join with the right business that will actually assist in reaching your goals.

I just found this site after receiving an email from FHW and wanting to check them out. But, I also checked them out at bbb.org. Here is their report:
"Company Rating F
Our opinion of what this rating means: We strongly question the company's reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law's licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company's industry is known for its fraudulent business practices."
I have found the Better Business Bureau site very helpful and always search their site before proceeding with anything that will cost me money. (I am retired with little to spare!)
The following is the address from BBB for FHW:
Unparalleled Marketing, LLC
Freelance Homewriters
20816 S Dixie Hway, Suite # 135
Miami, FL 33189
This is the phone # from FHW website:
1-800-750-7660
I hope this has been helpful...and thank you, all who have suggested legit sites.

Hey guys,
Thankyou all for your comments. I too got an email saying I was selected 1/25 to participate with an attractive joining fee of $2.95. My knowledge of internet fraud and scams triggered me to do my research (before I took the all too deceptive bait). Thankyou to those who suggested the free sites as well eg. Helium! To others who got sucked in I sympathise, its another lessoned learned & you have helped other people not fall into the same fate. Thankyou everyone for taking the time to report this company!!!!

When you apply for a job from a legitimate company, do they ever ask an application fee? NO. Whenever you see a work from home opportunity ask for a fee, run. Don't think $2 is small amount. These con artists understand what people think. Everybody think $2 is not a big deal. When many people apply, it will become a big amount for them.

To everyone who is being ripped off by anyone - you have a lot more rights than you think, and you don't have to contact the thieves at all, (though trying at least once is always a good idea to show good faith on your part, and to allow them to refund on their own).

It's really easy! Just contact your bank and refuse the charge. That's about it. The seller / charger has basically no rights at all, even if the buyer is in the wrong. If the charge is indeed unauthorized, then you should definitely report it to your bank ASAP.

I know this first hand from selling on the internet the last 7 years. I sold actual product, (rare these days!), rather than money making programs / scams, but we did get ripped off by a few customers over the years and we, the seller, had no rights whatsoever, even when we could prove receipt of delivery, (which we always could).

I've spoken to quite a few people about this over the years, and the feedback has been 100%. That is, everyone I know who sells on the internet, eBay too, will lose if the buyer cancels payment through their bank or lodges a dispute through PayPal.

So what am I doing here? My company just closed its doors, and I am looking for ways to make $$$, just like you.

To date, I have only seen a lot of scams, everyone selling moneymaking schemes to one another - circles of gold!

I'm still looking, but will be building a website and selling on eBay in the meantime. I live in Thailand and hope to hone my merchandising skills over the months until I can support myself.

Still, I look for interesting ideas that could / will generate income online. One never knows...

Great bit of consumer advocacy there howg! You're dead-on. People don't need to pay for what they no longer wish to have, whether it's something they ordered in a restaurant or online.

The only way to stop companies like these is to complain to the DA's office in that area and have them shut them down. I wasn't affected by them but I filed a complaint. The more of you that do - no matter if you live in Canada or Australia - the more likely they are to go and check it out.
Here is the link

at the bottom of the page it says something about citizens reports and you can send an email about them.

Hi my name is KimG,
I signed up because I thought $2.95 is not bad. However, I googled them and got your website, for which I am very thankful. I cancelled immediately and I intend to use one the sites that Judyp suggested. If you have any free websites I can use, please email me at [email protected].

Happy Hunting Writers!!

I like the style of jamesweaver8.

If I am in the same situation, i will probably do the same and if possible, also report this matter to concerned agencies like the Better Business Bureau.

Hi Everyone, I'm in Australia and have the same story to tell as a lot of others. I joined Freelance Home Writers for the 7 day trial. They took $47 US from my credit card only 5 days after the $2.95, then another $47 US after I had cancelled. I have sent 3 emails to them, all of which have been ignored.

I have now lodged 2 disputes with my bank over them taking the two amounts of $47, but now it will be a waiting game to see if they try to take any more money.

Being in Australia, I can't get through on the 1800 phone number they give out, but I will follow the advice of some of the members here, by demanding my money back (by another email) and also lodging a citizen complaint.

Wish I had found this site before I joined!

The phone number that you need to be calling is 1800-750-7660. I got this from some lady that Freelance sold my phone number too. When you call them you select option 3 and you will get a person.

The lady I talked to said that there was a paragraph next to the sign up now button on the left hand side that clearly said that they would be taking out the 47 bucks every month.

When I pulled up the site while i was on the phone with her she was claiming that this line is their disclaimer:

For only $2.95 you will have unlimited access to the same money making tools that thousands of our other members have for 7 days. Monthly membership is only $47 dollars which is a fraction of what you will make with the Freelance Home Writers system.

Supposedly telling us that their monthly membership is 47 bucks is their way of telling us that they are going to take that money every month..... right...

So when I talked to her I told her that very misleading. She then offered to refund the last month to the credit card. I told her she better refund all the months since we only logged into the site once to see what it was all about.

She did this with out argument. We will be getting our money back with in 7 days.

I hope this helps everyone. When they bring up the bit about it is written on there make sure you tell them that it is miss leading. I am sure from the heat they are getting from this is why they are refunding charges right away.

I too was charged 4 times and finally got through by phone after 4 months of calling and all were willing to do for me was cancell the charge for Oct. so now I am left to fight the charges for Sept, Aug, and July. I wrote e-mails as well and they said that they never got them I beleive that they hold you on to see how far they can take it and how much money they can scam out of you. And when you finally do get through they think that they are giving you a break by reversing the last month charges. Keep trying yourself don't leave it up to your bank you will be charged $47 a month until you cancel the subscription your self.

I'm glad I checked before I paid the $2.95. This does not seem like a lot until you run into the hassle of having to recover unauthorized additional charges. Not a company worth associating with.

Thanks for the warnings.

RUN AS FAST AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES AS YOU CAN! I was taken by these online scam artists. After charging the "$2.95", they charged me $97.00 instead. I tried to call several times and emailed them to no avail. No one ever called me back.

I now have filed formal charges against them with the Florida Attorney General.

I'm glad I just came across this forum. I received an email from same deal of $2.95 try out period and then $47 a month. I'm always hesitant to have to pay someone so I can work. That's why I entered the name of the place on the internet to see what I came up with.

It's always been easy to get scammed and now with computers/email/internet even more so. As the old saying goes, "if it is too good to be true, it usually is."

I will look into some of the places mentioned in this forum for work at home jobs, though.

By the way, what does GAF stand for. There is a comment above mentioning GAF, like it is some kind of business. Thanks.

I signed up for the 7-day trail. 2 days in a woman rang to "welcome' me & I told her I wanted to cancel. Her "pleasant manner" abruptly changed & she told me I'd have to ring myself. I continually tried the number (still trying!) to no avail & bombarding them with emails hasn't worked either.
I tried to put a 'stop-payment' on my account but my bank told me when I clicked in my debit card details I gave them the authority & there was little they could do!
I closed my account ($95 Aus later!) but the guy on the debit-card line said they might still keep charging me because I gave the authority! I don't know how this can be possible without an account but I'm VERY anxious!!

No matter how misleading their "For only $2.95 you will have unlimited access... for 7 days. Monthly membership is only $47 dollars..." the fact (as given to me from the bank) is I GAVE them my authority. So,how can you file a complaint against them if you clicked that darn button?

I am also in Australia, and found the same problems as already stated. I tried their phone number many, many times but it never connects. Telstra advised me that you cannot ring 1-800 numbers USA from overseas, even if you want to PAY for it. I emailed them 6 times (their support address) and ALL emails were returned as undeliverable. Yes, it is only $2.95 for a week's trial, then they charge you a monthly fee. They say that you can cancel that in the seven days. But THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM. Fortunately, I used a DEBIT card to pay the 2.95, which only had 5.00 in it LOL. So they have been unable to use that.
DO NOT TOUCH THEM. !!!!!

Great news! Maybe I jammed their in-mail box with so many emails, or maybe it was the damning reports I included (thanks earog - 27Sep for the BBB.org "Company Rating")... anyway, they've canceled my registration & agreed to refund my money.
I sent the emails to [email protected] but not through their site (don't know if this made a difference). Who cares - it worked.
If not for the wonderful people in this forum I would probably be having a melt-down. Thanks guys!
Oh, to thebard 20Nov - I used a DEBIT card too. It only had $8 in it so I thought I was safe. It wasn't until I checked my balance that I found out the transaction had still been allowed (even though I don't have an overdraft). And, they've charged me fees for doing it! Perhaps your DEBIT card provider & bank have a different policy. Keep an eye on your balance, just in case.
Can't thank this Forum enough. And, to those still trying to be rid of FHW, be persistent - very, VERY persistent. Good luck.

I really hate the fact that un-ethical companies practice stuff like this, that fraudulently takes people's money with no equal value.

It sure makes it hard for the rest of us honest folk trying to make a living and help others.

I am going to definitely post a "BEWARE" message on my site and point a link back to here for others to read. I sure hope that it helps others before they give up the credit card information.

Thanks everyone for your input and honesty. I would like to see other web site owners help denounce such scandals too.
