There was someone on our business team that got a loan thru them to start his business, but I don't know much about the procedure it took to get it.

It is a person-to-person leding program. You can benefit by being a lender (earn interest about 10-20% depending on your risk tolerance) or being a borrower (pay interest less than typical borrowing from banks).

It is recognized and recommended by so many financial gurus as a source of money to use for paying off other debts with high interests or a source of earning decent interests from your money instead of keeping in banks (depending on whether you are a borrower or a lender).

It has special promotion now. Anybody that wants to be a lender (can start as little as $50) or a borrower, can get bonus of $25 or $50.

You need to sign up through a current member's link to receive a bonus though. This could be viewed as free and easy money.

Anybody interested in becoming a lender (start with as little as $50) or a borrower and wants to receive $25 or $50 bonus, send me a PM of your email and I will send you a link.

tofusan,

Prosper.com is legitimate. There is risk involved as a lender since it is a kind of investment (the same is true for investing in stocks, bonds etc). As a borrower it checks your credit history and other information before you can be listed.

The founder used the auction system like ebay.

I think it is a very good idea to let people lend to people by eliminating middle man (banks). So anybody can act like they are a little bank without much to invest.

If you want more detail, PM me.

I have to agree with everyone else. Prosper is legit. You have to give up some personal information, if you are comfortable with that, and they contact some of your friends and family to find out your character and creditablity. I was going to use them but decided to save up my money instead.

Although Prosper.com is a legitimate company, they don't do a very good job in rating their clients as far as how well they will pay (credit wise). At first, my dad was making money. But ended up losing his shirt overall. People did not pay. Prosper doesn't do a good job rating credit-worthiness of their clients.

Just beware.
