I'm asking this on two forums so don't feel you've got de ja vu if you've already seen it on lets talk coastal!

Our school is having a silent auction and I"d like to put in a vacation. I'm not familiar enough with the package yet to know which ones are the best for this type of thing.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated as I'm very new to this!!

Hi,
My suggestion is I would avoid auctioning off the individual certificates, you don't want your membership number hanging about for everyone to see. It's better to auction the pkg as one entity anyway, in the end it works out better for everyone. If you're set on offering the certificates, I would activate them first instead of giving away the actual vacation cert....get to know the package more by going to a product call or visiting the websites with pkg information....there is a lot you can do with fundraising, some ideas can be found in my post:

Roger, I don't have the money to buy a package to raffle off at this time so that's a no go.

I do go on the calls and read the sites but people that have used the trips have stated that some are way better than others--but not on the calls, usually in posts in forums that I can't find now. So those were the specifics I was wondering about. A product call would help if it had a question/answer period at the end. I will try tonight to ask questions.

I am also giving away some of the free trips for auctions and fund raisers and so far no one is complaining when I explain how the trips works. I have been giving away the cruises because they are the easiest & I tell them they have to find their own way to Ft. Lauderdale & when they are ready to take the trip come and see me & I'll pay the taxes or port cost and write them off on my taxes. I was asked to activate them now so people know they have one year to use it. I hope this helps.

In that case it might be an idea to send off a few certs to activate and offer the trips once they come in from the shipping center....the process is once a certificate is sent off to the shipping center you receive a travel glossy back with tel numbers where you can book your trip....I believe there is a product call today at 3pm est. Someone can confirm this and if so, Stephanie has a Q and A after the call. If you can make it the number is (620) 294 3000 xt. 1103#. Hope that's more help to you.

Raffle off the trips, but include a terms and condiitons sheet with it, so people can know what to expect, then have them call ya for your # to put onthe voucher.

They will now know upfront, due to your disclosure statement, the $6.95 and any processing fees coming out of pocket.

A good trip to use in raffle, is Your Personal vacation from WTC, reason? Over 80 locations in USA, HAWAII, Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean!

Very attractive color glossy in the mail to customers too, with clearly spelled out terms and conditions which are simple and easy to follow. Can be activated over web or by mail or phone call, so easy redemption.

One thing about the particular vacation Jeff recommends:

The terms and conditions specify that you must attend with your spouse or partner if you are married or in a relationship.

This rubbed me the wrong way when I got the glossy - and I'm sure I'm not the only person who might feel that way.

I have used the Vegas voucher on several occasions, it seems to work pretty well.

recently, using WTC, one of my team went to Florida for the Convention, and used it, single, brought a roommate along too. Had no trouble with the married thing.

They even volunteered to take the Timeshare, just for kicks and giggles. The agent who took them on the tour heard of Coastal and KNEW ME! Wow! And was very interested in talking about Coastal, rather than giving the tour, since she knew the ladies would not buy.

She event took them all out to lunch in Celebration, bought it, then returned them back to the center there and let the "closer" come out and yell at them (policy I suppose) and of course they held their ground and did not buy the $28,000 one week vacation.

They left and each got $50 in cash for attending the trip.

Total hotel cost $17 for two nights. divided by two people in the room was $8.50 each, plus they split the $50 for $25 each and actually MADE money going on a Coastal Vacations trip.

This woman who used the voucher, CALLED it in, did not send it through the mail, or do it online.

And YES, you must always follow the terms and conditions, and yes some of the vendors are strict and will make you come with a spouse, while others will not. Activate ALL you can in the package so you know and learn each vendor's terms and conditions, work with the ones who you can see favor your individual situations. Then if you need to travel again, you'll know the vendor name and when you send your $6.95 to NB Management, on the order form, you REQUEST the company voucher by name, not the location, and they are supposed to send you the one you ask for.

Keep in mind, one vendor cert can be used per household per year.

So you can only use ONE vendor's cert for yourself per year. Good thing there are like 40 other vendors so you can travel almost everyweek of the year!

So you recommend we call each vendor after we activate each voucher?

Once they are activated dont they have to be used?

I am calling a vendor today to book a LasVegas vacation for my husband and myself and our daughter and soninlaw.

Will let you know how that goes. I attempted to call them yesterday but they are closed on a monday.

I think they need a NEW vendor for the online shopping spree. Had a school that was excited about a raffle I suggested using the shopping spree till we saw what was being offered. Not even worth the cost of shipping.

Again Terri, it depends on the vendor's policys for how to activate and use their trips.

Some make is combersome, back and forth, mail only. While others allow phone sign ups or online sign up.

This is why using and activating your kits are so important which gains you product knowledge that no one else has and eventually attracts people to you, because of the information you can offer them.

Spreeme.com (the shopping spree site) has some good offer, but ya... they totally gig you on shipping prices for sure, it's how they make their money.

I don't use them for anything cause as you found out, it looks nice on paper, but in the follow up, ends ups not being such a big deal for savings, when people who are super savvy can find better deals elsewhere on Ebay or whereever.

Although, some people who are not so shopper savvy, they'll think the $1000 stuff is great and they should, cause it is for them.

Okay called about the Vegas trip, I sent in voucher first than I received a threefold brochure and now I have to send in $4 to get a reservation form, than I have to send that in and can request hotel preference. So its send in $6.95 than send in $4 and than wait for reservation form.

I think this is one complaint that I have heard from several prospects who have been to some of the "time share" presentations. They want to know how many hoops you have to jump through to get these vacations. It comes down to this, in my opinion. Are you willing to invest an hour of your time over the next couple of months to be able to save a couple of hundred dollars or more on a 3day trip that you probably wouldn't have taken in the first place because it would cost to much? Would your spouse and kids enjoy the little trip to the beach because you spent an hour of your time mailing a voucher in and dealing with the reservations and other "hoops" that you have to jump through? I think an hour is not to much time to spend to get that trip for less than $50. If someone doesn't then Coastal is probably not for them.

Harold, I think that if a prospect is made aware ahead of time as to the "PROCESS" involved than they wouldn't complain when the time came to REDEEM the vacation.

When we went to London and Rome last year, that was before my hubby was introduced to Coastal, we spent literally HOURS researching, calling the major online places like Expedia, requested countless different itineraries, spent about a month that way not an hour.

Personally I feel there's nothing to hide about the vouchers with Coastal, why? because there are the Coastal cards I haven't even explored all the very many possibilities for great trips with!

And just as you said, there may be a few steps to get a good deal in travel and people are usually happy to do it and if they aren't than the famous word...............................NEXT...

BUMP! To update:

I used Your Personal Vacation as Jeff suggested. Tix are flying, AND my colleagues are asking me questions! And as discussed on the call on Monday, now is the time to target teachers. And my school is NOT offering summer school this year so maybe some will be looking for an alternative. I'm excited!

So from what I am understanding you do have to attend timeshare presentations after specifically being told that was not a prerequisite. What happens if you don't go-do they make you pay more?
Is this only one company that is doing this or do they all?

Judy, with some of the vouchers you might be ASKED to attend the timeshare presentation but have the option to say no thanks.

I haven't heard of anyone having to pay more f they decline the TS presentation offer.

Judy, in Harold's post the "hour of time" he mentions is NOT about a timeshare presentation; he's referring to the hour it might take to fill out the voucher, and mail it in, call in for the hotel.

Hey guys this is a great thread. I have done silent auctions in the past and our biggest donations came on the Bahamas Cruise and Stay. I know you veterans are like hey thats Fun Time Voucher and is Adam pushing Fun Time again. No this was actually long before i had joined Fun Time we did a silent auction in my mother -in-laws church. In 20 minutes of bidding we raised $3000 so the event was a success and I think the cruise and stay netted $1200. The one problem I have with silent auctions is that fact that sometimes people get out of hand and bid too much. They forget about having processing fees and taxes in addition to what they bid. This happens even when the terms and conditions are spelled out. We like to just do raffles it works better in the end for us.
