Hi Everyone,
As some of you might know I am turning 18 soon and will be buying the PL course. I have my ideas and thinking etc. set up and think I can handle this all seeing I'm very computer savvy. I think that the hardest part is starting. So here comes my question. I was looking at google trends etc. and seeing that the topic of "Nascar" has a fairly good trend rate throughout all the years etc.
What are some of the best sites to research niches and how do I know if I can be affiliate for certain niches like Nascar? I would like to make a site on Nascar Diecast collectibles etc. how do I find if I can be an affiliate of such a good?

Thank you very much,
Taylor

Have you tried googling 'nascar collectables affiliates' ? I just did that and I think you will be pleasantly surprised - be careful though. You should not have to pay to be an affiliate for a company to simply market their products.

Happywife has the knowhow to do an SBI site which will help you tremendously in building a site that will get 'found' on google searches... You will see her around on the forums - she helped me with mine and is a great teacher.

Hi JTMx29,

You can ask in car forums.

You can perform searches in Google. Then visit the sites and look for an affiliate section.

Best of luck,

Hi Taylor,

It's really great that you are starting your own online business at such an early age. You've got a tremendous head start that most of us wish we would have had "back then."

Mountainmom5 and Newbie Shield have both given you some good and simple ways to find out what kind of affiliate programs are available in your niche idea.

If you are planning on employing affiliate marketing as one of your main sources of monetization you'll no doubt be wanting to build a website on that niche. A lot of affiliate programs won't allow you to join unless you have a website that they can see and approve.

I'll pm you a search tool that you can use to do a bit of research. It's the free version provided by SBI rather than the full version, but it should still be helpful. In step one, just scroll down to the CTPM section and find monetization. Then you can choose a variety of search options in step two and so forth. Just follow the instructions. It's a nice little free tool.

Hope it helps.
Angie

I also have a question on how refunds work. If you sell 10 products and one person gets a refund who takes the hit? me or the seller/company. Bascally will I ever have to pay back the company due to a refund?
And HappyWife,
My Niche seems pretty good, do you think its a waste of my time though?
Thanks,
Taylor

It all depends on the individual affiliate program. For certain products, like digital or non-tangibles, you will most likely "take the hit." I've found with most hard goods or physical products, you don't lose your commission even if the person refunds.

If it's a worry, check with each company you sign up with if it is not clearly stated in their policy.

Well, Taylor, it's hard to give you an honest answer on that without doing the research myself. I did dash over to check Google Adwords, so I'd say even if all else fails you should be able to make some Adsense income if you build good content. It may be worth it to you if you really love the niche topic.

As for supply and demand, I don't know how many searches per month and how many competing sites there are. That is something I use the SBI brainstorming/research tools to discover when I'm considering a niche. They give you a good idea of healthy ranges as you walk through the process.

So lets say that I get paid for the month etc. Lets say I get paid 100 dollars from selling two products each at 50 dollars. I get my check etc. put it in the bank, then the person refunds the product. Will I get a check saying I have to send money to the company etc?
It's just a sense of confusion for me.

If you have already received the commission, you don't have to send it back. At least, I've never heard of that. Basically, they just place the negative balance in your "affiliate account" and then it will come off of any future commissions.

K, but lets say you never make anymore commissions after that? then what? I know but still wondering lol.
Thanks,
Taylor

-Also Nascar seems pretty strong. I'm prolly gonna build a site. The google trend for general nascar was fairly good and averaged out well, and collectibles only has a few leading site etc. So I feel I have found a good niche. I understand that you use SBI I believe but what's a good sitebuilder/hosting package for cheap?
Once again I appreciate this help very very much

Well, I've never had that one happen, so I couldn't say for sure. Maybe the company takes the loss. I can't imagine that they hound you for it, but who knows?

Well, I don't have experience outside of SBI, so I can only tell you what I've heard and read. If you have experience with site building you could probably just use one of the free html editors like NVU and go with a basic hosting company like Bluehost or one similar.

The trouble with going with that type of plan is that you need to learn to build your content so that the search engines will send you targeted traffic for free. If you don't know how to do that (SEO) you are really going to struggle.

In addition, SBI's sitebuilding tools are so user friendly if you don't know html, etc. Of course, they also have the autoresponders, blogging, rss, everything included. Depending on who you go with, you may have to buy additional tools to do what you want to do.

There are heaps more advantages, things they do for you behind the scenes like submitting your pages to the search engines automatically, keeping all your stats for you, etc.

I can't imagine you finding as good a package anywhere for "cheaper" than the $25 per month that SBI costs. I could be wrong, but I've never run across it.

I hope your site does well. You seem to have done your research on your niche which is important. All the best.

Angie
