Hi guys,

I bought PL a couple of months ago and after reading it, doing projects and even setting up a blog, I am starting to feel a little disheartened. I was soooo enthusiastic, but with a full time job and 2 small children it is easy to just say 'it's too hard', but I don't want to give up. One question (of many) that someone might be able to answer is, I keep reading about setting up websites and hosting fees etc etc, but didn't profit lance give us prebuilt websites with hosting, why can't we just use those??? Thanks to anyone inclined to answer.

Just for the record, I quit internet marketing twice before I finally started making sales about two months after I joined Wealthy Affiliate. Now, I'm earning about $1,500 a month from IM, so it just goes to show you that persistance pays off.

BTW, if you need help with web design, I've got a free ebook you can read - just shoot me a PM and I'll give you the download link.

getagrip - do you make the bulk of your money by promoting WA or by putting the training they give you into practice to make money thru other websites, blogs etc....?

Aren't both PL and WA training courses?

PL also gives you pre made websites, lots of them like 5 adsense every week and around 15 affiliate product websites to promote. The adsense ones you need webhosting though.

You can profit from them but SEO wise they are almost useless because of duplicate content. So you won't be getting any traffic from the search engines to them.

I hate to see someone give up...

Yes you can, or ideally purchase a domain, use a good web hosting service like bluehost and direct traffic to those website, they are pretty good websites, around 50 pages each but they are only for adsense (information websites). But like I said, duplicate content will make you low on search engine results.

As for the affiliate websites, those are already hosted and created.

Personally, I prefer making my own websites and/or blogs.

Hi Benolly1,

Don't give up...
If you do not want to stick with PL,

Weebly has more features then Google Pages...and you can build up to 2 hosted websites free.

I know this question wasn't directed at me, but I will answer too. I have only been at WA for a month now, and I have already made a little money. I have tried promoting WA, but the competition seems way too big and I actually lost money trying to promote it with PPC ads. So now I am focusing mostly on using the training to write articles and make websites and things of that nature.

I haven't done too much research on Profit Lance yet, but just by looking at the website, WA seems much better quality in comparison. I am new to IM and often get very frustated since I'm not making much yet (although it's only been a month), but I plan on sticking with it. No matter which way you choose to go, I am sure you will be able to succeed as well.

Benolly1,

I'm not qualified to respond to your question about PL prebuilt websites, but I will certainly address the doubt, uncertainty and disheartening feelings you've been experiencing.

First of all, it's important to realize that when you get started with Internet Marketing, it is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by the amount of information there is to absorb. There are several pieces to the marketing puzzle and until you begin to identify them and understand how they fit, you will have lots of troubling questions.

That's normal.

The good news is, you are not the first to travel down this path. Many others have gone before you, experienced similar growing pains, and survived them. So, see this period as simply a stage of your education and development - part of your learning curve.

The next time you start to get discouraged, think of the reason you decided to set out on this path in the first place. Remember how enthusiastic you felt. And instead of making the full time job and two small children a potential skapegoat for your giving up, use them as your reason to continue till you succeed.

- See yourself quitting your job one day because you no longer need it
- Feel the joy of being able to provide a comfortable living for your children
- Imagine having the freedom to do whatever you wish on any given day

These are all attainable, but only if you stick it out and do not ever give up!

Hermas

I do pretty well with Wealthy Affiliate since it is a high quality program that people usually stay with after they join, but I've also made money with a variety of different affiliate programs by marketing products from Clickbank, Paydotcom, CJ, and the eBay affiliate program. I've made money by making videos, giving away free ebooks, selling my own ebook, building websites, writing articles, SEO, PPC advertising, and participating in online forums.

getagrip:...and now you can register your custom domain extension with ICANN for a measly $100,000+ :)

I think I'll reserve ".seo" :D

Benolly1: Losing heart is unfortunate, but understandable. It's fairly common. As A8ch pointed out, try to remember what made you excited about online marketing in the first place and keep that before you. Hopefully it was more than the income potential.

To profit, you'll have to have original content. As Narthil pointed out, duplicate content is worthless, especially since so many folks have the same PL sites. That may be why you didn't make any money.

Even if you modified the sites, the meta tags are probably too competitive.

First, make sure that you have read all of the PL material, including all the eBooks. That alone takes a good three or more months. Then instead of using the cookie-cutter sites, play around with some free web 2.0 sites. Then when you have learned what works and what doesn't, you can host your own site.

Pick something you are either good at or would like to learn about. That way you'll enjoy it and your authority will show in your writing. It's important that your readers trust you, want to come back to learn more, and will be inclined to spend money on your site.

Think long term. If you do things in an intelligent sequence, you'll have a lasting, profitable online biz.

Once you get used to the routine, you can also start a new project, and then another, and then another, as time permits. In this way, you will build an empire.

Hang in there,

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the peals of wisdom, probably just what I needed to not give up. I think because I purchased PL that I should stick to it to the letter, but if as you say Newbie Shield that I should read everything and then do my own thing, then I'll give it try.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Still don't know where to start, but I'll dive in head first and o a little bit every night.

Thanks

Hi Benolly1,

I'm glad you'll be hanging in there :)

PL is an online marketing education. The free sites that come with it can pretty much be ignored.

Since education is the first step in successful online marketing, read all of PL and then follow the steps mentioned in the above entry.

The how part is confusing for everyone when they first purchase the course and take a look. Everyone gets confused, lost, and overwhelmed.

The best way is to start with the left navigation bar. Read everything from top to bottom. Then do the same with the top menu bar from left to right. You can skip the part where it says to enter passwords and launch the worthless mini sites.

You'll have to download and read over 20 eBooks, read several articles, watch some vids, etc. Just do all of it and you'll have a good idea of how to create SEO'd pages, drive traffic, etc.

You might also read some books and some free sites on online marketing after wards. It's good to continue learning and to get your education from a wide variety of sources.

Then as suggested, you might create a plan and try it out on some free web 2.0 sites. Finally, you'll know enough theory and have enough hands-on experience to give your own hosting a shot.

If possible, spend a couple hours or more every day doing these things to ensure reasonable progress. Use this long term approach and you will be well equipped to survive in the online marketing world for as long as you desire.

Become well informed on your topics and learn how to write well. Take your time to do everything "right". Don't expect much money in your first year. Slow and steady wins the race ;)

To date, that seems to be the clearest and concise version of how to practically launch into this. Frightening to hear that it will take a year, but yes, slow and steady wins the race. A question for you, in my disheartened state, I did the typical thing and continue to search for other methods and came across FREE CASH ONLINE SYSTEM. I know sounds too good to be true, but have you or anyone else had any luck, this one is actually free, no money down???

Is free cash online system the one that has the 'furry hat guy? I don't know anything about it but if you watch his video's on Youtube he does. I may be mixed up and that may not be his biz but some of his video's are fun to watch, he's a go getter. That type of business isn't for me but everybody has their own way of making money that's right for them. If I'm wrong about the furry hat guy and FCOS connection don't pay any attention to me.

Newbie Shield sums it up pretty much, but actually the PL websites are great for practice, affiliate sites help you practice traffic generation since everything else is already done, even link cloaking. I actually made $150 from them. But don't stick to those, due to the duplicate content, SEO wise they are useless.

The adsense ones you can modify however you want since they are basically PLR websites (Private Label Rights) and you can do with those as you please, if you change all 50 pages of each site (There is 5 given to you every week since you start), it might make a pretty good adsense site.

About your last post, let me give you the simplest yet most important piece of advice you will ever get, stick to ONE method! If you go around purchasing every single IM course or e-book, you will get nothing done, get incredibly confused and only lose money, trust me, you won't make any. Make a plan of action and stick to it.

Benolly1, This is my first ever post, just wanted to say everything in your post fits me perfectly. Two months of reading for hours on end just to end up lost in a sea of info, kind of like being up a creek without a paddle. Sent an email asking for a clue as to where to start and was told I needed more reading and watching videos! I do Not like quitting, but to continue withPL seems much like kicking a dead horse. This is my first post, but I am a regular to this forum and I just want to say you guys are great.

Benolly1,

You're welcome. I don't know anything about FREE CASH ONLINE SYSTEM, sorry. I'd just complete studying PL without bothering with other systems until you are done with it.

What everyone needs the most - especially at the beginning - is a broad knowledge with a little depth in each area. You'll want to know what is involved and a few things about each component. PL does a good job of delivering this.

Poke around on this forum too. Check out some archives. But spend most of your time reading PL. By the time your finished, you'll know what to do next.

Good luck,

It's no use if you read a lot and don't take action, how about you spend 10% of your time reading and 90% actually implementing the stuff read.

Hi Narthil,

Sure, but only once you have the fundamentals down. Put the horse before the cart but don't just ride the carriage forever Most implement far too soon.

Conversely, implementing at the appropriate time is a must. Action after education is the only thing that pays in real funds.

I need money, who doesnt I just don't want to get screwed at this. I need someone to actually say step one is step two is.... but I guess I am on my own. So I am not going to give up and I don't think you should either.

I have been floating around now for a couple of years on the Internet looking for ways to make money. I have subscribed to loads of IM products bought some hugely expensive ones and been on many a conference call. I have spent in the last 2 years about 15000$ on products. Have I learned anything!! Yes stop buying different IM products because a lot of them are the same but constructed differently and everyone is selling somebody else's information as an affiliate. STICK to the one product when you start or you will get confused.

The one thing I have learned is that good copy sells and I am not a copy writer but working on it. The other thing is know the product you are selling and be enthusiastic about it, smell it, feel it, love it this will come across in your copy and get your prospects on board.

It's like if you have a hobby and it's your passion how would you talk to someone about it with great enthusiasm and would you restrict the amount you say. No you wouldn't, because it's your hobby, you need to write the same.

You can build a Web Site that's not a problem but what next, content and good copy. Start a blog to go with it but you must keep it updated and that's work as well as your site. You than need to be writing Article's submitting them to Ezines joining forums and working on mailing lists. Don't forget the good old opt in.

How have all the others done it they have all had the day job but they worked and worked hard at it because it became their passion. They became the very best in their field and went out and sold it and I am talking about the Top people in IM. There are loads of their students selling IM products as well be careful.
Have I made money online? No. Why? My issue is time but I am working on it. Never give up because you will only fail if you give up trying. Sorry I went on a bit never been in a forum before believe it or not.
