I do all of my advertising online, I get great results with paid and Free advertising, but now I decided to go all out with it and try off-line promotions too. Any tips on what works the best, paid OR free?..

I'd consider looking at trade publications for your specific niche - so if you are marketing model airplanes, find a magazine about model airplanes, and advertise in their classified section.

Depending on what you are promoting, getting business cards printed can be a great way to get the word out offline. Keep them on you at all times, and remember to pass them out whenever the occasion arises. You can put them up on bulletin boards at grocery stores, etc. If there is a shop you frequent, they may even allow you to place a business card holder on the counter. Flyers are another low-cost option (full size or miniature). They can be placed in doors, windshields, boards, or handed out. Sometimes newspaper classifieds or inserts can be effective too.

I have had decent success now and previously with another business posting self made flyers on bulletin boards. Make sure you add the tabs at the bottom where people can tear them off and take your info with them. Also I advertise very inexpensively with a local free paper... More people are picking those up with the rising cost of printing. Just make sure your ad is short and to the point, but Eye Catching. Another great idea is to purchase rack cards or make your own and get in touch with the local chamber of commerce or community welcome groups and add it to the packages they send out to new residents. Some realestate companies will let you offer a 'gift' to the people that buy houses, depending on what you offer, that may be feasible. Good Luck to you and I HTH

Hi rbwhiting

I have found post cards are good as well as business cards. There is a deli I frequent and they allow you to leave your business cards on the counter. They are all stacked very nicely across the counter as you look over the glass while they make your sandwich. Cool huh?

Also I have tri-fold brochures and flyers. These work well in waiting areas like places where people get their oil change or tires, doctor's waiting room, and even restaurants. Of course you must get permission.

I just walk in and say, "I have some free brochures that educate the public about the hazards of the Internet, may I leave some here on the table?" The answer is usually yes. People like to hear free and educate.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Much success
Susan
