Talk about MAJOR withdrawal!

Our internet was down for TWO whole days!!!!!!!! The beauty of living in a remote area where an avalanche can take out a tower and you have no incoming or outgoing long distance, no cell service OR internet....

About time to get the Pony Express and the telegraph system out again - lol.

I went through major withdrawal symptoms for about a day and now that it is up again, I barely know where to start.

But, I actually got a few extra things done because of the fact that I couldn't get online - my family got a few homemade apple pies, which they thought was pretty cool.

Anyways - I am so glad to be back in touch with you all....

Hi Mountain,

Ouchie! It's bad enough when you plan a vacation and part with your connection intentionally for a few days. But to lose it via avalanche would be upsetting.

Glad you are back up and with us once again.

Hey MountainMom5,

The inconvenience and anxiety that accompanies any extended, unplanned, Internet service interruption, can really push your panic button, expecially if you depend on it for your livelihood.

But somehow, when the episode has passed and you reflect on it, you realize that life goes on anyway, and the real damage is often much less severe than what you imagined it would be. And isn't that a relief!

Glad things are back to normal.

Hermas

You are so right - even though we depend on the internet for our livelihood, and our internet was down - the rest of the world was till happily surfing the net.

That is one great advantage of being an IMer.

Hi mountainmom5,

I've had similar withdrawl symptoms in the past

When you go through withdrawl, to me, that mean something is wrong!

I used to get so wrapped up in my work that 5 or 6 hours could pass and I wouldn't even realize it.

I realized how important it was to have other things included in my daily routine. Now I stop working after a couple of hours and go for a jog or read a book.

I think that you should try baking pies more often, and next time the internet goes down you'll have other things to occupy your time

Best wishes!

I think a lot of people are addicted to the internet these days. I remember watching a talk show about 10 or 15 years ago - around the time the internet first came out - and there was this lady who was addicted to her computer. I thought "how ridicuous", but now I think I understand!

I sure do, but then this past few days also helped me realize that I need to prioritize - again.

I have to do the prioritizing thing quite a bit as I tend to get carried away quite easily - especially when I learn some new technique.

Oh my! You just missed a chance to take a mini-break

Too often we spend our time yelling WHY rather than looking at the situation as an opportunity. When everything is over you find yourself so silly.

Everything happens for good

BTW, couple of years back, if I was in your place, even I would have done the same thing! I don't know about now though!

I know what you mean, Viola. We've had some monsoonal weather recently, and my internet access has been extremely limited (I have satellite).

I did discover something interesting as a result. I was able to get several pages of content written for my sites because I didn't have the distractions of checking my email, visiting forums, etc. It turns out I can be much more productive if I'm not exactly "online." Who knew?

We are expecting a cyclone in the next day or so, so I'll have plenty of time to be "productive," I'm sure - unless the power goes out.

I'm sure everyone enjoyed the pies! I'm glad you all were safe and sound.

Blessings,
Angie
