Newbie Shield - Who knows why I chose my name?

Does anyone have the beginning of a clue?

What does "Newbie" mean? What does "Shield" mean?

What does it mean if you put the two together?

I agree with Matt's speculation and offer the following as supporting evidence:

The avatar of Yoda, the wise Jedi Grand Master wielding a light saber, is a symbolic clue. The peacekeeping Jedi use the "light side" (white hat) of the Force (potential) to achieve their objectives.

In your posts you continually extoll members to use ethics, diligence and fair play in their online pursuits.

I even see subtle esoteric and metaphysical principles wrapped up in all this, but that's a discussion for another time.

How's that!

I think it would have been less confusing if he just made his name MasterYoda

Actually, I know what the name means - I was just goofing around with my "Darth Vader" comment. The name means that he's trying to protect newbies from scam artists.

Anyone want to try and guess where my name comes from? There is a story behind it...

Glad the thread got some responses.

I thought it would be nice to know the meaning behind the names of various members.

I bet that M5's name is a mom who lives on a mountain - specifically within Montana.

Curious about A8ch. I would offer one guess: Pronounced "H", which is the first letter of his name - Hermas. Perhaps it's a jazz nickname?

Getagrip: Though I know what "get a grip" usually means, I'm not sure how you came up with it as a forum name. I wish I had an intelligent guess for you.

I would assume that Matt and Vishal are using their real names.

Sunflower is usually associated with a cheerful personality.

Mellin might be a nickname - short for Melissa.

Well, in regards to my forum name:

Matt (and Vishal) was close.

Keith was nearly exact. Only thing he left out was as it pertains to online marketers though I assume he meant that.

Hermas described it eloquently, well done as usual. Perhaps you understand it so well because you are a kindred spirit.

Good guesses all.

So, what do all the forum names mean?

What fun. Yes, some names appear to be very straight-forward and others clever intimation. I was totally off on another plane when guessing the meaning behind "A8ch". In my mind it was pronounced "ache" and I was envisioning something dramatic like intense longing or a broken heart. Haha. Thanks for bringing me back to reality, Newbie Shield. Interesting what images a name can invoke.

Although, I like to think of myself as having a cheerful personality my name belies an inherent trait to be incandescently influenced or luminescently leveraged (I think I just made up a few words here).

Yes, living in Seattle can be a problem at times.

Newbie Shield if a newbie protector at the same time act like a newbie receptionist. You can see when a newbie post an intro post newbie shield will be the first to come out

Hi johnjimat,

I do that once in a while but not very often and only for good reason. I have noticed that some folks do that though.

Only time I do that is if the new arrival has a question (I answer the question) or seems very distressed (I try to calm them). I never just greet them if they are only saying hello or saying they just got here.

If you pay closer attention to detail, you'll also be training yourself to become a better marketer.

I don't reply to frivolous posts though I do like to joke around and socialize from time to time.

Besides, we already have several enthusiastic receptionist. Sorry but I'm not one of them.

Have a nice day!

I gathered about NS.

No clue when it comes to Keith's name - maybe a response to the fact that many people often get lulled into believing catchy sales pitches on sites the have endless scrolling and promises of earning 20K in two minutes if you buy this system or that ebook?

Ditto about A8ch - I realized it was a clever play on his first initial. Mine is also a play on sound.

Also ditto about M5, Matt, Vishal, happywife, and Sonni being variations incarnations of what they are called (either literally in what their names are or that loved ones would call m5 mom, Angie "wife", etc.).

No clue about sunflower - before knowing the answer, if I would have had to guess I would have maybe projected and assumed Patricia to be someone who loves the sun (something that no doubt becomes appreciated even more living in a place like Seattle) .

Mellin..... I scratch my head at that one too.

So getagrip - what's the story?

Mellin makes me hungry lol.

I picture this awesome fresh cantaloupe ready to be eaten .

I'm sure that has nothing to do with Mellin's name though lol.

Just what I picture :P.

Hmm, everyone is assuming "Newbie Shield" is a reference to a guide/protector of newbies. I have a different take. What about someone who uses newbies as human shields so they take the abuse and he remains safe? The Yoda avatar is just a cover - he's really in league with the Dark Side! Don't say you weren't warned!

...or something...
