I am taking about some real good investments so that I get my future secured (want it secured for the kids too). I have a few options that I can look up to like REI, mutual funds and stocks.....but need a bit of advice from you to make a better decision.

Its a great time to invest in real estate if you can. The market is down now and there are some awesome deals out there.

Welcome Goldy - great thinking and I am definitely planning on building something that my kids will benefit from - but I do want them to build their own future as well (financially) - else we can leave them a legacy and they'll blow it.
You will find lots to dig thru on this forum. Most of us have websites in our signatures for that very purpose - so that you can dig and discover on your own, but feel free to shout if you have any questions. We may bark at times but we don't bite.

Hi,
If you are on the verge of retirement you need think carefully on investments. The older you get the lesser time you have to regain money from risky investments. It would be better to get advice from a professional adviser before making any kind of investments.

I'm with George on this one. Be sure to contact a good advisor and get the details. There are many options out there and based on your specific situation you can find what best fits your needs. I would also say to look into starting a home based business as they are better than any investment. You can control the outcome and your income is not capped. There are many options on this forum and most of us put our websites in our signature lines so you can do your research. My initial investment in my business was $1295 and we made over 10k in our first 7 weeks so our ROI was huge. We have also been in our business for four years now and at 38 it allowed me to retire from f/t employment. It's great being in my 40's and retired. Old enough to know what to do to enjoy myself and still young enough to get my party on when we enjoy ourselves. Good luck in your search.
