Looking back at my life I have always noticed that there seems to be abundance in some areas of my life and scarcity in some areas. For example financially I've been well off and I've a loving wife and a wonderful son. However my health has not been that good. And there have been many such instances where some things I get very easily, without even bothering much, and for some things, no matter how hard I tried, I never achieved them.

Does this sound like a similar story in your life? And do you know why there is abundance in some areas and scarcity in some areas of our lives?

If you closely examine the first paragraph you'll find the answer.

When we try too hard for certain things, almost always, knowingly or unknowingly, we have it in our mindset that there "is dearth of those things" in our life. We always fear whether we are going to achieve them or not. And ultimately it's the fear/thought of scarceness that manifests in itself.

"You are what you think" is so true.

For those things which we have in plentitude, we never did worry about them, did we?. We just did our duty, never really bothering about the results.

It is only when we begin to get attached to the results that fear and worry begin to manifest.

So just do your duty and let go!, and abundance and prosperity will manifest in every area of your life.

A very insightful post, Vishal.

I believe that abundance is our birthright. The Universe provides, and it is our choice to partake of the bounty to our heart's content.

Unfortunately many of us are confused or don't understand how to claim our gifts. The answer is always very simple and is usually staring us right in the face, yet we often fail to SEE it.

However, once we connect with (submit to) the flow of intelligence that guides us, a new and wonderful world of possibilities reveals itself and we recognize it to be our playground.

Fear and worry are imposters that deprive us of what is rightfully ours. The irony is that fear and worry are our own creation and have no reality except in our imagination. But the imagination is a fertile field and whatever thoughts we plant in that field will take root and grow.

It makes sense then to plant only good thoughts and desires, then get out of the way and allow nature to take its course and deliver a bumper crop for our enjoyment (our blessings). There's no need to be concerned with the details.

So just do your duty and let go! ;-)

Nice thread you guys :)

This line was the most interesting to me:
"It is only when we begin to get attached to the results that fear and worry begin to manifest. "

How true how true ... does that mean that you have worried about your health Vishal?

Would anyone here like a free download of "Think and Grow Rich"? Been re-reading it this month.... good stuff.

Drop me an email ;-)

Absolutely! I have been obsessed with my physical appearance ever since I was young. And it is this obsession and worry/fear that led to degradation of my health.

To summarise everything, I found this very interesting quote from Swami Vivekanada:

This I have seen in lifethose who are overcautious about themselves fall into dangers at every step; those who are afraid of losing honor and respect, get only disgrace; and those who are always afraid of loss, always lose.

So true and I bet we all have seen this ourselves.

One more important thing to have abundance in life is to cultivate the attitude of giving.

How often have you seen this in life - those who give away the most, be it anything - time, money, love; almost never seem to fall short of it. Isn't it?

Here's a very interesting and powerful article I came across on the subject:
http://www.yuni.com/library/docs/649.html

If you ever get a chance, make sure you read the book "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams" by Deepak Chopra.

Oooh, and how about an 'Attitude of Gratitude' ... I was recently doing an exercise from a book called 'How to Be Wildly Wealthy Fast' (content along the same lines as the rest of this stuff ... what you put/let into you mind is what you get back from the universe).

The exercise was to make a list of 25 things you're grateful for. It's not as easy as you think! It's eassier to think of all the things that you are not satisfied with/ want to improve.

But the fact remains, the more you put appreciation and grattitude out into the world, the more you receive back. And it starts with shifting your thinking from 'lack' to 'abundance'.

Even just changing the words that you use everyday can begin to shape your paradigm..... see how this hits you:

I appreciate you Vishal!

Andrea

Excellent point, Vishal!

Giving and receiving are opposite ends of the same pole. The act of giving triggers circumstances that are designed to "balance the scales" through receiving.

We must GIVE some form of energy in return for everything we RECEIVE. The wonderful irony about this is that the more you give, the more you have to give. The process is self-perpetuating.

By the way, the publication you recommended by Deepak Chopra is an excellent read.

And Andrea, your remarks about attitude, appreciation and gratitude are right on the money as it relates to abundance. Those qualities are like the wrapping that encloses the gift you give or recieve.

Here's an interesting observation:

Some people are uncomfortable receiving things offered by others. They instinctively go into a "thanks, but no thanks" mode, not because they don't appreciate the offer, but they think it's the polite thing to do.

What they fail to realize is that by rejecting the offer, they are obstructing the other person from experiencing the immediate satisfaction that comes from giving, as well as the other receiving blessings the come on the backend.

So, to keep blessings and abundance circulating, we ought to learn how to be comfortable receiving as well as giving.

A8ch ~

I appreciate you too ... but I wish I knew your name ...

About the 'thanks but no thanks' mode ... I think that many people don't actually feel worthy of receiving, or think that there must be something of equal value to offer back. Hog Wash!

Receiving is part of the ebb and flow of life, you can't have 'giving' without it ... funny how our perception of the simplest things can be turned around by all of the other self-image ideas we have.

Howdy,
There are many opportunities to give. Some will take using money on your part. Some will not.
In my religious belief, 10% is suggested/required as an amount to give. This seems a reasonable amount to me. Next, you get to decide if you give 10% gross or net. I have had periods of time where I really had no cash money. When those periods of time happen, as they did here recently, I gave work. I helped sort donations at our churches thrift store. I did a couple of jobs around the place without requiring pay. You might want to ask permission in some situations, just to make sure your work is wanted, but 9 times out of 10, and probably even more than that, it will be wanted.
Are you great with flowers? Make arrangements to brighten someones day that really needs it. Decorations for your place of worship are usually welcome, also.
Are you great with plants? Start a few new plants, and give them away to someone who really needs a pick-me-up.
Are you a good cook? Make a meal for someone sick or greiving.
Can you drive? Take someone to the doctor or run errands.
Help out at your local homeless shelter or soup kitchen.

I have found any and all of these activities to be helpful to people and welcome. Also, if you are frustrated with your job hunt or the way business is going, you will find that helping others will open doors to helping yourself, also. This happens in ways that you can't even imagine.

Don't forget the victims of Hurricane Kathrine. The Delta area is in terrible need of green hard cash. Your local place of worship, Salvation Army, and Red Cross should be able to help you out with even a small donation. By helping others, we also help ourselves.
