Hey everyone.

I actually made $8 with Squidoo in June!

Well it isnt much but lead generation was my initial reason for making a lens. So if you add up all the leads to my business and the small payout...not bad for a free service!

A lot of good advice here. I started creating some lenses a little over a year ago. I used to be quite easy to get a lense ranked well in Google, but that no longer seems to be the case. Have any of you old timers had similar experience?

Does anyone know how frequently the lenses are updated?

I was asking myself the same question.

One more thing... Are you pinging your lenses? If yes, how frequently are you pinging them?

pcwork: Historically lenses have been updated every day except Sunday. They are still working on the major site overhaul - including the dashboard. Updates have been a bit sporadic over the last couple of weeks.

naturalis: I pinged each lens after I completed them. I also ping them after each update. Never more than once a in a day or when I haven't updated them.

Thx Newbie Shield

If you update the lens, what is it usually that you update? Do you treat your lens equally to a blog? Or do you just add some pics and links just to refresh it?

Hi naturalis,

I have four lenses. I've done almost everything I can to them except adjust the images to fit better with the new module width. I'll tackle that some day in the future. I don't really ping them any more.

I usually just ping them a few times in the first week or two of lens creation and tweaking. After that there are no changes to ping.

It's different than a blog. When I'm done I'm done and off to the next thing because there is only so much you can do with a single page.

I have noticed that people add their links to my lens. How can I add my link to other lenses?

Hi Newbie Shield,

This is great advice that you are giving here. As always we only have so much time and so many things to do with that time. Not trying to sound negative but to get to the point where some of you experts are it going to take some of us quite a while. Super Lenses you guys got here. Keep up the good work and the information flowing.

Charles

Hi pcwork,

Just log into Squidoo, visit lenses, and sign their guestbooks. Be sure to create meaningful comments or your comments may not be approved by some of the lensmasters. I filter comments on my lenses and I have rejected many comments.

No, I am not talking about comments, I find people have directly added links to my Squidoo lens

Hi pcwork,

In addition to the guestbook (comments) module, there are a few other modules that allow this. Furthermore, there are favorites, lensroll, and the related area.

On top of that Squidoo adds its own links (doubt you are talking about that).

Will you please PM me with the lens link and describe what area you speak of? I need information to isolate the area in question.

I'm starting to see that squidoo is a unique way of promoting whatever you choose to but it's not that simple - so you have to use the right words and titles to get the viewer attention and content is what makes your business grow and you lenses popular. I think it's vital to establish a logic connections through all og your lenses. Is thta right?

Squidoo was complicated for me in the beginning, but the more you work at it the better you get.

It's actually very fun to customize your page.

However, while it is fun to create, you should be aware of your goals. If you're promoting a product you do need to use your keywords so you can generate some traffic to your website.

I don't want to make my lenses too long, but I have so much information. I would actually like to start separate lenses and link them to each other. Is this a good idea, and if so, how do I link them? Just add a hyperlink or is there a fancier way?

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

Sure, you can create an "Article Series" by linking lenses via hyperlink. You can create a directory or article table of contents near the top or bottom of each lens (page).

I've considered doing it that way and will probably do so when I find the time - probably early next year.

I am finally using squidoo and hubpages, and I'm mad I didn't start sooner. Great traffic!
