I just got an email that West will no longer be partnering with VM. Does anyone know how long it takes or IF another skill will be offered? Any other departments experienced layoffs??

Yes, I got the same email. I'm activations so my week ends next week. Hope we get something that is very similar in work. I 've worked the VM project for a long time. and I dont' like trying to sell stuff.
If you have any other info please post or any other work at home opportunities I would like to read about them.

I kinda thought it was coming............it's been slowing down more and more since the 2nd call center opened in Cebu City Philippines. Barely any hours anymore. I just wasnt expecting this major announcement to be sent via email on a somewhat normal Tuesday afternoon. Seems they would've had a conference call to answer questions or what have you. Will everyone be offered a skill? Should we file unemployment next week? etc etc etc. I've worked for VM for over a year now and have never been offered any add'l skills yet they seem to hire people all the time. I am ranked a "1" and not sure if that makes a difference in skill offerings or what. I hope they offer something else soon. I hear cr!cket is constantly busy. I also just applied for Alpine Access- seems they do some of the same work but they have mandatory hours (ex: must work 5 hrs every weekend). I would prefer to stay at West though.

yes, I feel the same way. I've been w/west Vm for well over a year. never offered any additional lines. Was told by pal that that 1 ranking didnt' mean anything but I always liked for mine to be there. yes business usually gets slower in the summer but picks back up in the fall. I can't commit to the longer hours because I homeschool my daughter as well. That is why I like west. Hopefully we will get on some of the other lines...but I hate the thought that I may have to tryto selll to get a pay check, such as DR, etc. I 've always wanted to try the cricket or lenscrafters so we will see. Yes, I dont' understand why they kept hiring so many at home agents.

Wow guys, I'm so sorry to hear this. I just resigned from activations last week due to the change in pay and the hours getting so hard to come by. I was worried about doing it and now I know I made the right decision. I think it's terrible how they just emailed everyone instead of doing something more personal like a webinar call. I hope that they place you guys in another skill. Good luck.

ShawnFL, have you been offered any other skills since you resigned? I've heard if you do resign they contact you for another skill/company?

my hubby works activations as well as ays, last week he received an email telling him that since both areas were slow, he was being offered Cricket. He starts training this week. That is wierd since we knew nothing about VM last week. But his schedule was always weekends and evenings. And they said that was one of the reasons he would be a good fit. I haven't been offered anything yet, I work saves and ays, but mostly saves. I hope they offer more than Pro-Flowers, I cannot imagine that it is particularly busy except during holidays.

yeah, so far no word here. I like the idea of making my hours fit for me. Hopefully we will get offered something good since we've been with the company longer than the new hires.

I don't work VM but I saw that muffinlou asked about other work at home jobs. There are actually several work at home jobs that pay pretty well, the only difference is you do have to commit to a more rigid schedule, (ie. weekend hours, min 20-25 hrs a week) I am a stay at home mom with 3 kids very active in sports, so this is not ideal for me.. I have listed a couple of the ones I know about..good luck

If you live in 813 area code or Dallas Hilton at Home, you take reservations, great pay and great benefits.

1800flowers, also great pay but must committ to hours

also if you go to wahm.com this is a great resource for stay at home work/opportunities.

Hope this helps!!

thanks momof3boys. that is my problem. I do have other commitments and with homeschooling that 20+ hours is a biggy. I do appreciate your info....nope, im located in TN.

hopefully we will get more info about the VM project and what they are going to do with us soon. My husband lost his job a year ago and that is why i started doing this to help out because he had to take a lower paying job.

muffinlou V*P Desk is hiring for virtual concierge positions, not sure how they do their hours. I know that Arise is similar to W*st in the fact that you bid for hours but with them you are self employed and would have to be incorporated. Most of the other places are all set hours but if I come across something I'll post it.

lakewoodgirl yes I did get offered another skill! I was very surprised since I've heard of people waiting up to 6 months to get a new one. I just got a new project c*ti lcg virtual receptionist. Training is 1 hour and the description of the position seems easy enough.

I had resigned from VM back in Febuary due to log in issues I just got offered the Cit* VR as well after waiting several months. I had actually given up hope, but I guess it all matters on their need at any given time. I wish you girls all the luck!!

Hey Rosie, it looks like we're in the same skill again! I can't believe they never got your log in issue fixed!! That is ridiculous. Glad you finally got offered a new skill. The Cit* training was so easy compared to VM. Have you worked yet? I did my first 1/2 hour block today and had 1 phone call that lasted 1 minute and I think it was mostly due to the scripted greeting we have to say, lol! I was out of breath and my mouth was dry after that, the guy who called just kind of laughed when I was done.
