I'm starting a blog where I will be creating video and text entries on the subject of search engine optimization. I will be updating, pinging, syndicating, adsensing ect. and last but not least, promoting my new how-to product found in my signature here.
Curious..... Blogspot.com would be the easy quick fix to accommodate these tasks, but am I better off (More professional) using a subdomain within my website?
What about using wordpress in conjunction with my, paid for, website? I'm unfamiliar with this process, willing to learn.
Opinions/feedback welcome,

YES!
The answe is yes.
You want to do them all. Maybe not all at once, but eventually all. I would start with your own domain. The move on to blogger, then squidoo, then wordpress.
Link each one to your main site and then link each 2nd level site to eachother.
For example.
1st level: www.your home site . com(not an affiliate link...lol)
2nd Level: Blogger, squido, wordpress
Link all 2nd level to your 1st level then each 2nd lvl to 1 of the other two.
So bloger to squido, squido to wordpress then wordpress to blogger.

I believe a back link is pretty much your link on another website. The higher the PR of that site, I believe also effects your back links.
I am using blogger, and I love it

I would also highly recommend Wordpress. It's easy to customize and there are a lot of different templates you can use. I would suggest downloading it and uploading it to your ftp instead of going through wordpress though. It's better for being able to customize your site.

But ulitimately you are going to want to get your own hosting. Otherwise you're at the mercy of the free blogs. I always used ezine articles to a Squidoo lens and then to the vendor.

If you are a web developer yourself and you have already gathered data then Static website is best. other wise go with Wordpress since it also represents its URLs as static via URL rewrite.
