To make money, yeah sure this forum has thousands of ideas. I'd like to know if there is at least one that actually makes you any kind of money you can make a living at. There's MLM's, affiliates, blogs, home businesses etc. I've been online now for a few years, and lost money at everything. I'm sure there's one person on here who knows a way to make money. I'm at the end of my rope folks, hanging on the end of a cliff. I can't even sell my furniture on CL, nobody's buying. Yes the man with the violin is standing here playing, that's how my life is. I'm scraping to put gas in my vehicle. Does anybody know of a way to make income online, without losing your shorts....

thank you for your time...

Hello SpiritHawk,

There ARE lots of opportunities "out there" for people to make a decent living online. You identified a few yourself - MLM, affiliate programs, blogs and home businesses. It seems to me that the frustration you are experiencing due to your lack of success, stems from asking the wrong question.

Opportunities do not care how comfortable or tenuous a person's situation may be, if he or she does not apply the strategies correctly the results will always be below expectations.

You may need to make a slight adjustment to your mindset and perspective and ask instead: "How can I change what I am doing to improve the results I'm getting?" That outlook shifts the responsibility for your success squarely on your own shoulders.

See... MLM, affiliate programs, blogs, home business and other online opportunities, are simply vehicles. That's all! But climbing into the driver's seat does not by itself transport you magically to your destination. You have to do the driving yourself (or hire a chauffer, if you can afford one).

That means you have to know:

- how to drive
- your destination
- how you plan to get there
- what to expect along the way

That will prepare you to make the next important choice - which vehicle is the best to use.

- Will you be traveling by land, sea, or air? That'll dictate whether you should take a car, boat or plane.
- If you're going by land, what kind of terrain will you encounter? That'll dictate whether you should take a car, SUV or a truck.

And so on...

I'm sure you get the picture.

It is said that asking a question compells the answer. If you believe that, then you ought to see the importance of asking the right questions.

Try it!

Hermas

Making money online isn't easy so you're not alone. The statistics I read say 95% of folks don't make it and give up.

Your writing seems to be good why not freelance and write articles? Associated content pays for articles and there are others I just don't know who they are.

If you don't give up you may lose a few battles but not the war.

You took the words out of my mouth. The fact is outside of the outright scams (which there are very few of), you can make money - and good money doing anything.

To the OP: I think you answer your own question in a way as to why you haven't made money. You've tried all these different things. This is a good way to either lose money (as you know), or make a tiny profit at a lot of different things.

You need to pick something, or 2 somethings and devote all your online energy to that. Online moneymaking projects, for the most part, have a maturity curve. They tend to make trickles of money for several months of consistent effort before that trickle becomes a steady flow.

I think you're looking for a shortcut to the success and it really doesn't exist unless you've already been around the block and know exactly what to do to recreate your previous successes.

Pick a money making method and throw yourself at it with determination for several months, learning everything you can in the process. If you don't want to do that, walk away and never look back. There's no dishonor in that. Running a business isn't for everybody.

Whatever you do, don't give a half-assed effort to umpteen programs and methods because you almost certainly won't make a living doing this and you'll just waste time, energy, and maybe money.

Hi Spirit,

Summing up what everyone just said, you can make money by:

1. Gaining the necessary knowledge - so study.

2. Choosing one or more methods - start looking and choose.

3. By working hard over time - plan on doing so for several months.

There is no try, there is only do.

LOL!

I've always preferred:

Perhaps you should get a job first to get your money and then start online opportunities.

yeah that be great if there were any jobs around, I live in a real small area and jobs are really hard to find here. Not to sound so negative, it's tough here, I've been pounding the pavement for the last 2 months and nobody's hiring anywhere. I got turned away from a place who helps people with jobs...go figure.. life in a small town

A8ch is absolutely correct!

Somehow we've arrived to a situation when general public believes that there are two different types of business: "real business", where you have to invest money, time, effort and where you have to actually work hard in order to achieve any kind of success and "home based" or "Internet based business", where you don't have to work at all and where you can make at least one million dollars in a very short time without any effort whatsoever. The only problem is that there are "scams" out there and you need to make sure you don't get into one of them.
Yes, Internet based business has some unique features: low cost of manufacturing the product, low cost of delivering the product, potentially very large customer base, ability to delegate nearly a hundred percent of all the aspects of it, ability to set it on autopilot, but it is still a business that you have to run yourself and you need to know how to run it.
Main thing is - it's not the business that makes money, it's the business owner.
How about a restaurant, or a laundromat, a car-wash, a day-care? Are any of them profitable businesses? Or, are they "scams?"
You make it profitable and you make it a disaster!
For me, as for a guy who's been through a number of brick-and-mortar businesses, Internet marketing is a logical choice, but if you are looking for some miraculous business opportunity where you don't have to do anything - you are out of luck here.
Ultimately, you need to figure out first if you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur, if you understand the consequences about being in charge and relying only on yourself - the risk is higher, but the reword is worth it!
Go read Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad Poor Dad" first and see if you are even interested in becoming an entrepreneur.
Home based or Internet based businesses do work, there is nothing wrong with them. After all it's just another business, why wouldn't it work? But make sure you realize that you will have to work at it in order to succeed, like in any other business.
