Hi All,

I am recently rethinking my marketing approach and want to start back at the basics. Any advice or steps that you use to search for and find a profitable niche?

Thanks!

Dave

Well standard answer: do keyword research to find a high demand keywords but in low competition.

But what kind of niche you are thinking? I think playing golf probably is a good niche to target, I don't know just a blind guess so don't listen to me...

Are you thinking to start another profitable niche?

If not, just re-organize your marketing approach.
As finding a profitable niche may take some time as it requires some work like creating website, putting content on your website.

Hi Dave,

Have you made a list of things you like, things your good at, things your are interested in? Those are usually good places to start.

Have you read Sitesell's free Affiliate Master's Course ebook yet or read through their SBI Action Guide preview? It's broken up into 10 Days or Action steps. The first couple of "Days" of their program can help you work through the brainstorming process and figure out a niche you want to go with.

You can read their material without purchasing their program. A lot of people find it helpful even if they don't have the money to join. I hope that will help you with your "rethinking" and get back to the "basics."

Blessings,
Angie

hmmm... profitable niches.... do you really think we are going to give away our most deepest secrets...

Just kidding - and yet a tad bit serious - I have built campaigns that just sat there and have also thrown together stuff that got traffic almost overnight so, sometimes you just don't know.

I guess if you find a niche that you think may be profitable, dig deeply into the keyword sandbox at seobook.com to see what is all in there...

Hi Dave,
Have you read the NicheQ report yet?
It is a good one...
Cheers, Victoria

Pick a general niche at random. There's money to be made in ANY niche.

Say you pick camping/fishing. Register at several forums and find out what people are talking about, whether there's a new line of reels you can pimp or what.

As for the problem solving, that's spot on. Every niche forum has rant threads. Read them and see if there's something you can do to give the person a better experience than the one that caused the rant.

Try using google trends, it reports daily what has been mosted searched on the internet. After finding some hot or popular topics use word tracker or another keyword research tool to see search results and related searches.

After doing this you should be able to find yourself a notable niche to take action on.

Goggling will help you. I don't think anyone will give you a nitche. If they find out they will go ahead with it and start earning money.

Hi TSF,

It's a mistake to consider the profit potential first. I agree with HappyWife. Start thinking about 1-3 things that you like. Try to go with something that you feel you would enjoy writing about for two or more years after launch (indefinitely would be best).

It's okay if you'd have to learn more about something.

Then see if you can monetize on one or more from your list. Pick the best one on the list. Give that one 12 months after implementation.

If it's not profitable at all, then pick another from your list and try that one.

Keep your visitors in mind in everything you do.

Good luck,

~Newbie Shield~
