Hi everybody,

I just started looking into work from home programs and am curious about how everyone is making their money. I've been out of college for about 5 years now, and have unfortunately not been able to make enough to get out of the paycheck-to-paycheck living style. I've seen a lot of advertisements out there about affiliate marketing. Has that been successful for many of you? Please let me know, and if there's something else I should be considering as a more effective means of supplemental income. Thanks for listening and for your advice. Hope all is well.

Hi Nevans,
I am only 6 months old into the internet marketing. I was sitting at my desk one day at a job I hate and I google how to make money online. OMG, millions of hits. I got carried away and overwhelmed. I joined and invested a little money in a lot of crap. Then I found this forum. It takes months and years to learn this business, but if you focus you can learn enough to start making money.

Check out the links in the signatures here. Be aware of the business in a box as I call it. It works for some I am sure, but to me its just not personal. You can tell by my signature what I am passionate about and I took that and now I do get my bills paid, but by no means do I have anything extra YET! If you find something that you think is interesting and you are considering, do yourself a big favor and come here first and ask about it before you jump in. The people here are great and largely responsible for what I have accomplished so far.

Hi Nevans,

Welcome to the forum. i have been almost 4 month in this field and still struggle to maintain my income and make a long term plan. what i realise are, internet business and make money online are 2 different thing. internet business is something that need a system and long term plan with scheduled project. but make money online is something that easy than internet business and not require a system, and it is not for long term plan..

So I think I found a good program, it seems to hold your hand through the basics pretty well. What I am now curious about is the best method of affiliate marketing. Is the primary source of effectiveness simply getting people back to your site? It seems that the best way to diversify is attaching yourself to many different products. If so, do you then just write articles, enter into forums, and blog about these products with the link to the product's site? Or should I be expecting to have an individual domain for each type of product? Thanks for the help and your time.

It depends - are your products all in the same niche? Don't spread yourself out too thin if not.

I usually don't get individual domains unless I can see it is going to be worth it. Just set up a blog or Squidoo lens and link to the individual products from there and then have one or two domains that are linked directly to several of your products and that way you can test things.... for instance, you can write articles and have a link both to your blog and to one of your domains in the sig box etc... with time you will be able to tell which is going to work better for you...

Have a great time learning.

Currently, I can pay about 75% of my monthly expenses with my affiliate marketing income. It hasn't been easy by any means, and I've takes many bumps and bruises in my affiliate marketing journey, but its definately been worth my time.

I started with GPT. Embarassing but you gotta start somewhere. Then ebay, then MLM, I did a couple, then door to door sales, then affiliate marketing and selling my own products (mostly MRRs).

It is important to diversifiy at some point, but not at the beginning. Just focus on one niche and start making money from it before you get your other foot in a different niche.

Only if you are going to build a review site for each particular niche. It is also important if you are going to use Adwords,

I am retired from my previous employment. I started with affiliate marketing about 2 1/2 months ago and have made 5 sales so far. I love what I am doing and have learned so much. This forum has helped the learning process immensely. It is possible to succeed at this but it will take some hard work.

I've been affiliate marketing for just over three months and am just now starting to see things clearly. (I knew nothing about my computer or the internet so I probably spent three to four weeks just learning about my computer and how to use it). It all makes sense now and I'm starting to organize all the information in my head. Haven't made any sales yet but I'm not worried. Affiliate marketing works, if you follow a plan and you stick to it. I've talked to many that have succeeded. None of them say you will get rich quick so just don't expect overnight results. However, they all DO say that it is a great way to completely change your life and attain some semblance of financial freedom.

Hi Nathan,

I've found affiliate marketing to be worthwhile. That's primarily what I do on my websites - promote affiliate products.

I also earn a fair bit from Google Adsense. I like the fact that I can do both on the same sites. Not everyone who comes to my sites are interested in making a purchase. Many are just looking for information. So, even if they click away, I can still earn something for them having been there if they happen to click on one of the Adsense ads on my site.

As others have mentioned, one of the best ways to "do" affiliate marketing successfully is to choose a subject that you have a great interest in and build a niche topic site about that. I have a site chocolate-candy-mall(dot)com that is all about chocolate candy, party favors, making molded chocolates, fudge, etc.

On that site I can (and do) promote a number of different affiliate products, but they are all related to the niche of chocolate candy and the topic of each page. There are a couple of digital products, but most of them are hard goods.

Some months are better than others as far as earnings are concerned because of the holidays, etc., but I'm building a long term business that grows each year. It's certainly been worth the effort I put into learning and building.

You can do something similar with almost any subject you can imagine. Usually we recommend people to choose something they really love because we know that it takes time and effort to get the groundwork laid. If you really enjoy the subject matter, it makes the process a lot less painstaking and the journey is actually pretty fun.

Hope that gives you some food for thought.
Blessings,
Angie

Thanks a ton for the advice and the words of encouragement. I've seen a decent amount of views of page in the last week which also gives me encouragement. I just need to stick with it and keep moving. I think making my first sale will definitely give me a boost in the right direction. Until then, just keep moving forward and promoting. Thanks again
