How is Affiliate Classroom different than PPC Classroom?

Some time ago I signed up for PPC Classroom and briefly went through the course. It's still a bit above my head and the investment to pay for ads frightens me since I don't personally make an income right now.

Now I'm getting emails about Anik's Affiliate Classroom. What exactly is the difference? Being an affiliate is more what I'm interested in (and starting to do on my website) but only with free traffic.

Does anyone know if this class would be better? It's $1 for the first 10 days, and then it's $97/mo which I don't think I could afford today either.

Maybe someone could direct me to some free affiliate training? I have an SBI site and perhaps I should dig more in there for info too.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Tracy

I don't know about either program, but if you have already invested in SBI, I would use it and use their resources to learn more about affiliate marketing since you have already paid for it.

Hey Tracy!

Great to see you again! I hope you are well.

You honestly don't need to go and spend more money on another program. Keith is right. You've got what you need in SBI, you just have to utilize it.

Look at all that great content you've built. You have put a ton of effort into building that lovely and informative site.

BUT, (you knew there'd be a but, didn't you?) I can tell by browsing around that you haven't followed the Action Guide closely enough, particularly when it comes to the use of keywords.

There is no way in this world that your site should not have a ranking waaaay better than what you have.

I'd suggest that you take the time and effort to start back at Day 1 of the Action Guide and watch those videos (they're new and improved, too). The brainstorming tool has been upgraded this summer and it's faster than ever and full of excellent keyword research techniques.

For instance, when you run a search on the word 'declutter' what comes back? Find the phrases that have over 100 in demand and less than 100 in supply (the greater the demand the better) and write a page targeting each of those specific keyword phrases exactly as they are.

Have you run a search on 'clutter' 'organize' 'organization skills' etc.?

Find the phrases with the least competition and and work with them. Be sure every page passes AnalyzeIt. This is crucial!

Have you gone through the process of submitting your home page to Google and the other major engines as outlined in the AG?

These are just a few of the things I would recommend for you to get your site kickstarted again. To be honest. After you watch (or read through) the AG again, I'd take a second look at some of your pages and see if they've been set up correctly.

Maybe they have, but I think a refresher will give you a new lease on life so to speak. You may see some pages a little differently and notice how you can target a keyword with more potential for traffic.

I want to encourage you all I can, because I can see the effort you have put in.

You really haven't tried monetizing much it looks like. I know you need the traffic first, but when you are ready to start monetizing, get some Adsense up at the top of your pages so you can at least start earning some income there.

Okay, enough for now. I'm starting to babble. Hang in there, kiddo. I really don't think you're going to find something better elsewhere, and I'd hate to see you waste all your hard work.

Blessings,
Angie

Thanks Angie. I was thinking that maybe I should check back in at the Action Guide. I have tried to make sure all my pages have passed analyze it (I'm aware of one that hasn't but I ran out of time). I haven't done much monetizing b/c I still can't seem to break that 20/day!!!! Really... It's unbelievably frustrating. I know some of the tools have been updated, so I will take a step back and review them.

I was hoping that both my kids would be in school two mornings a week this fall, so I'd have quiet time to work on this, but nope. My son was put in afternoons 5 days a week and my daughter in mornings twice a week. Things are going to get shaken up here in two weeks. Wish me luck.

Oh, definitely wishing you luck! What a shame they couldn't coordinate that better for you.

If you're passing AnalyzeIt, then it has to be something else... maybe the choice of keywords? If I get a chance, I'll run some numbers for you. I just can't figure out how you don't seem to be ranking much. Even my pathetic excuse for a 4th site is ranking higher (not saying that in a mean way AT ALL) and your site is way better on the surface and much more fleshed out.

There has to be an underlying reason.

Another good idea is to go into the SBI forum and ask for a site review. Some more experienced eyes may pick up what I'm not catching.

If I were in your shoes, I would be pulling my hair out at the roots with frustration. I admire your spirit in continuing on with it through the adversity of slowness. Does that even make sense?

Okay, I'll get back to you on the numbers.

Blessings,
Angie

Okay, I've just made a quick search and used the word "clutter" as my first brainstorm. (You do the same when you get a chance).

Right away (after sorting) I can see that these following phrases are perfect for your niche and writing a page about each...

clutter hoarding
book clutter
free ideas for organizing clutter
clutter feng shui
clutter cleaning
how to clear cutter
dealing with clutter
clutter no more
how to reduce clutter
beyond clutter

...and so forth.

These phrases have very little supply and decent demand. It will be quite easy for you to win the traffic for those phrases.

Do the same type of search for the other phrases that I mentioned earlier - declutter, organize, organization, organized, organizing, etc.

You may want to get more specific than that if you aren't coming up with phrases that fit your target niche, but hopefully you get the idea.

Again, I assume you HAVE gone into the SE Headquarters and went through the process of submitting your home page to the engines? You only have to do it once, but you DO have to do it.

Fingers crossed for you over the next few weeks.

Blessings,
Angie

ALL of my pages are ranked in the search engines (except for ASK), several of them under 30 even!

I will play around in brainstorm some more. I'm at about the max 1000 words. I guess I'll have to be ruthless and clear some stuff out and do some new searches as you showed. And then to try to come up with an angle to talk about clutter, or whatever, from each of those keywords. I think that maybe I've been thinking "I need to talk about laundry" and then look up keywords dealing with laundry and go from there. So, I should base my topics on the keywords first to get the traffic, and then fill in where I "want" to?

We can chat personally from here out, since we kind of got off topic. Thanks!

oops! I guess you're right!

I'm just bamboozled as to why you're not getting better traffic then! I'd say your summation of your next steps is correct.

Chat to you via email!!

Blessings,
Angie

Hi Tracy,

I think that you've answered your own question and I see that you are in good hands (with happywife).

I think that with a little fine tuning, you'll be fine.

Best of luck!

No, still enjoying the family in the good ol' USA - that's why I haven't been in as much in recent weeks.

Hi Angie,

Sounds good.

Sure you really want to go back? Which place seems like a nicer place to live?

Mixed emotions. Both are lovely, but nothing's better than family.

Hey Angie - I have a quick question for you on the SBI traffic.. what is your advice for me here...

My site is about 4 months old - and has 70 pages - getting an average of 50 - 60 unique visitors a day.

Should I just focus on steadily building content?

Or should I focus more on getting backlinks?

Here is what I am doing for backlinks right now....

*writing ezinearticles,
* building Squidoo lenses
* also have a blog with links to my site...

those are the main ones...

I admit I am a little stumped on how to get more backlinks to it but then maybe my focus should be more on building content???

Thanks!

edited: woops - my site is at Emergency-Survival-Skills.com
