What kind of opportunity are you looking for: A network marketing company or affiliate program?

There are a lot of good programs out there - if you see one that grabs your attention, it is adviseable to get feedback from other forum members to make sure it is a legitimate opportunity.

I am not a guru - but will see if I can help you a little bit...

There are a ton of opportunities presented throughout the forum here and what we talk about mostly here is the ins and outs of online marketing as a whole...

Regardless if you are in network marketing, with an mlm company, or affiliate marketing, the tricks to learning ONLINE or INTERNET marketing are basically the same.

That's what we talk about so first I guess you need to figure out WHAT you want to do and then there is a ton you can learn on here on HOW to do it.

And if even that doesn't make sense to you yet - remember we were all newbies at some point - don't be afraid to ask...

I am a guru wannabe

My first advice is ... do something that you are going to enjoy (if you are going to work you may as well work at something you like doing)

Secondly... commit to your new venture and be prepared to have patience to learn, test, learn, tweek, learn, achieve!

Thirdly ... take the bull by the horns and try it!

On this same forum, I created a clear list of 15 different ways to make money online, including various links, so I'm sure you can find something worthwhile there to pursue. Here's the link to the forum:

Hi Brian,

You'll have to be more specific.

Read below the thumbs up for my answer in a nutshell.

Funny Dave, I had not clicked on this thread before because I'm faaarrrr from Guru (still wearing the newbie hat, in fact), but I was going to chime in with a link to your list. Yeah Brian, I'd start with Dave's list so that you can get a feel for some of the "flavours" of online earning that are out there. You can then use that overview to hone in on the subset(s) that interest you and take things from there.

Once you have a list of say 3 options that are more interesting than the others (say it's affiliate marketing, GPT/surveys, and mlm), you can then do more specific searches to get a better feel of things then narrow down further.

It's the narrowing down as far as you can that will help because in doing that, you'll be able to ask more specific questions. Newbie Shield made a good point, if you don't ask a specific question, it's harder to get help.

Let's take the scenario of you deciding on affiliate marketing for an example. You decide on affiliate marketing then you come across MountainMom5's VERY helpful thread on the topic: http://www.work-at-home-forum.com/3_12007_0.html and it builds on what you understand of it. After reading that, you do a bit more reading elsewhere and basic research and you come to the forum with "Which affiliate programs do you guys like the most?" You will get a better respond than just asking "What should I do to make money online?" because 1) you'll get people chiming in who have experience with specifically that approach and 2) when you read through the answers, you'll have more of a point of reference to what they're talking about.

If, on the other hand, you don't do any research first... and don't make any moves towards looking into what's out there then merely throw out the question of how you can make money online, even getting the best overview sort of answers will be foggy because you won't have much of a foundation. Plus... the amount of different types of options that people answer with may be overwhelming.

So, to best help the gurus help you:
1) read a bit to help figure out what routes mesh best with your personality type, strengths, and knowledge base
2) use info in thread on the forum to narrow down your income generator options
3) then ask specific questions

After that, it'll be important to act on the knowledge gained (instead of just pooling data). I say this because analysis paralysis can be dangerous at first.
